Kaliaganj Municipality moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Kaliaganj Municipality, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ––FormalDude (talk) 11:18, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Important Notice
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Rajendra Prasad, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. See MOS:DR. CodeTalker (talk) 17:11, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Left Alliance
[edit]@Shakya2007 User Sharad SHRD7 is again started disruptions and he is trying to delete an article written by me : Alliances formed by left-wing parties in the states of India. Wikipedia reviewer Onel 2569 (I forgot the exact name) previously said me to add more citations to the page and I added that and then he said nothing against that page. Please say your opinion in that page. The page is being used in many other pages. XYZ 250706 (talk) 12:16, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
My opinion is that you have done nothing wrong and your page is factual. SHARAD is paranoid for sure. Shakya2007 (talk) 12:44, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
Please write your comment on the talk page of that article. XYZ 250706 (talk) 12:45, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
Did it. Now it's your turn to provide your defense regarding your article. And please inform other users like Chennai Super Kings lover etc. to come there as well. Shakya2007 (talk) 12:50, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

[edit]@Shakya2007 National parties in India have some extra advantage over other parties. They can user their particular symbol all over India and the government provides land or a building for the National parties to erect their party headquarters. I think national parties in India can be regarded as major parties for Lok Sabha election. Besides if you look at the national parties, all parties (Except NPP) have national significance. Shouldn't we add them in the infobox for 2024 Lok Sabha election? XYZ 250706 (talk) 05:55, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Evidence phase of Indian military history extended by three days
[edit]You are receiving this message because you are on the update list for Indian military history. Due to an influx of evidence submissions within 48 hours of the evidence phase closing, which may not allow sufficient time for others to provide supplementary/contextual evidence, the drafters are extending the evidence phase by three days, and will now close at 23:59, 8 June 2025 (UTC). The deadlines for the workshop and proposed decision phases will also be extended by three days to account for this additional time.

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to set Preferences → Editing → Editor →

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Soham Chakraborty when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance.

- I have to be very frank with you that you started the problem. Attacking other editors with your comments in edit summaries is a bad thing to do. Even trying to blame them makes things worse. I suggest it's time for you to cool down and refrain from doing all those kind of things that could get you blocked. Remember no personnel attacks. Galaxybeing (talk) 11:17, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I thank you for at least coming to terms. See in my previous conflict with User:Zackmann08, who is an admin, I already apologised to him because I found my mistakes. However, the user I am having beef with now, is also accused of edit wars in their own talk page, as well as disruptive editing (I take back the word "vandalism"). Warning
[edit]
This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, as you did at Raghav Chadha, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Calling other editors "idiots" or "twats" or claiming they are vandals or biased are personal attacks. Cease this immediately, please, or you will be blocked. Black Kite (talk) 10:20, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- Does this refer me to keep quite and sit numb when others suggest me to "touch grass" and practise in edit wars for their own edit boosting? Shakya2007 (talk) 11:04, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- No, it quite clearly tells you to stop attacking other editors, which is a Wikipedia policy. Black Kite (talk) 11:12, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I'm eager to tender a direct apology to the user I had beef with if only the non-neutral edit in Raghav Chadha page is removed. It's not just me that reverted his edits. In fact, look at the history too. Some other users also found the edits non-neutral. And for the record, several ex-opposition leaders previously too criticised the BJP even harshly, but such info is at least not there in their lead section. So logically why Raghav should be an exception, particularly when he's under attack by "left-wing" groups? My offer is simple and I am prepared to apologise even 100 times, if the condition is met. Shakya2007 (talk) 11:17, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the article is currently locked because of the large number of users edit-warring on it. I would suggest making your request on the talk page of the article to see if you can gain consensus for it. Black Kite (talk) 11:35, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- But aren't you an admin? Shakya2007 (talk) 11:36, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

- In the interests of clarifying the situation; in this post of yours you said your incivility/personal attacks happened because of the actions of a temporary account. No, they didn't. They happened because you chose to violate our Wikipedia:No personal attacks and Wikipedia:Civility policies. There is no justification for breaching these policies. It doesn't matter what someone else does. It doesn't matter if people call you the most hateful things you could imagine, or do the most egregious things you could think of against the project. There is never a justification for violating these policies. You've been here more than four years. You should know better by now. No amount of insulting people will result in positive things nor convince people of the veracity of your position. Such insults are a direct reflection on you, rather than the people against whom you are attempting to level such insults. This is true in 'real world' life as much as it is here. This behavior of yours will stop. --Hammersoft (talk) 13:03, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I am afraid I do not see much latitude for change here, alas. Notice the latest post on their talk page: he is referring to those with whom he currently has disagreements as "communists", and stating they will not be able to "suppress" his "voice". I am not sure what they are alluding to, but expecting them to exercise civility is quite optimistic. ~2026-64188-8 (talk) 15:40, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- Sure is and already stopped. However unfortunately the concerned user and some admins keep coming to critique, even though I'm trying to cool down. This is further complicating the situation. Shakya2007 (talk) 16:01, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

Pronouns
[edit]Could you please not assume that everyone is male, addressing them by default as 'sir' and referring to them as 'him'? That is quite inconsiderate towards our many editors who are female, or non-binary, or otherwise not keen on such forms of address. (It is also somewhat lazy, when addressing an editor whose userpage clearly shows preferred pronouns as 'she/her', which you could have found out had you checked.) Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:00, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I mean, should I use they/them? Shakya2007 (talk) 16:04, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- When dealing with an editor you're not familiar with, you could quickly check their userpage, and if their preferred pronouns are shown, and then try to remember to use those. If no preference is shown, you can either refer to them as 'them' (which is what I do), or you could perhaps ask them, especially if your interaction becomes more extended than just a few short comments.
- Anyway, my point was don't assume, and don't just default to male. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:29, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- Understood, will stop being kinda lazy. Shakya2007 (talk) 16:32, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- It's good to get into the habit of using they/them anyway, that's the standard these days! There's also a script you can install that reads editors declared gender and adds a little icon next to their name on their Talk page, I find it really helpful. I'll try to find a link if you like? You may be eligible to vote in the U4C election
[edit]I am contacting you because you previously voted in elections related to the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C). You may be eligible to vote in the current U4C election, which is open now and closes on 2 June 2026. You can find out more about the candidates and the election on the election page on Meta, and from there you can access the vote itself. Your participation in these elections is important to the governance of Wikimedia communities, and your time spent learning about the candidates and voting is appreciated.

Re Raghav Chadha
[edit]The fictitious "consensus" you referred to in your edit summary while reverting the changes holds no merit whatsoever. On the contrary, plenty of differing opinion prevailed. I note you were previously embroiled in a conflict with fellow editors over this page too. The talk page discussed merely alluded to some kind of "hypocritical" depiction of circumstances even though Chadha's defection, more so in light of his remarks on the political outfit he now pledges allegiance, has been at the forefront of the whole fracas. Journalistic sources have dwelled upon that at length. You do not get to discount that. Furthermore, per WP:OWN, you do not "own" the page. If you think providing such context is "biased", I refer you to the pages of historical entities who committed a major volte-face by bartering one school of thought for another. Writing "Please, do not," is not only inappropriate, but contrary to the ethos of collaboration. Do not run with the notion you own the page and get to exercise authoritative say on what stays and what does not. HotChickenParmesan (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 20:42, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- Neither I "own" the page, nor consensus is "fictional" or "hypocritical". Maybe there are historical entities with volte-face in leads however we have a "real" consensus. Shakya2007 (talk) 21:04, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- You should consider reading properly before jumping to a response. I was referring to the fact that the false "consensus" on the page, "established" vastly between unregistered individual editing from temporary accounts, claimed the insertion of this critical info was "hypocritical". You should also refrain from editing that page until the time you explicitly declare your conflict of interest stemming from your political predisposition too, which you have yet to.
- Lastly, do not use terms such as "do not". You do not own the page, and as much as you deny, that phrase makes it sound like you are deliberately trying to undermine Wikipedia:Ownership of content. HotChickenParmesan (talk) 01:29, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- You're welcome to share your opinions in the talk page if you want. And yes, as a BJP supporter, I will keep patrolling the page. Shakya2007 (talk) 07:27, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- Keep patrolling the page for all I care, but do not introduce your lopsided bias into the page. Cheerio. HotChickenParmesan (talk) 07:42, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- There's no bias, the info stays, but no in the lead, admins verified too. Furthermore, I checked Wiki:OWN and it accidentally matches my tone. Although completely unintentional, I do apologise. Shakya2007 (talk) 07:44, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- There's no such thing as "admin verification", if that's what you are talking about. Wikipedia works on establishing consensus, so convening a hasty group of random IPs to drum up support for an unpalatable fact, more so in light of your political disclosures, has no merit. Lastly, you don't get to solely determine what stays and where, so I would be careful if I were you. HotChickenParmesan (talk) 10:25, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- On second thoughts, the foregoing comment of mine might have been a wee harsh. No harm done, but you need to understand that the way you write might be taken the wrong way. All good here. HotChickenParmesan (talk) 10:54, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
