Please add a skyline image

[edit]

please add a skyline image of the city. It creates a better impression for the city. I suggest to add this- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chennai_Skyline_Anna_Salai.jpg ~2025-43112-14 (talk) 05:12, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with lead

[edit]

I was reading Larry Sanger's theses out of curiosity, and while I strongly disagree with almost everything else he says, what he says about about this article's lead does seem reasonable. There seems to be a bit too much dubious emphasis on rankings.

Known as the gateway to South India, Chennai is amongst the most-visited Indian cities by international tourists and was ranked 36th among the most-visited cities in the world in 2019 by Euromonitor. Ranked as a beta-level city in the Global Cities Index, it was ranked as the second-safest city in India by National Crime Records Bureau in 2023.
...
It was the only South Asian city to be ranked among National Geographic's "Top 10 food cities" in 2015 and ranked ninth on Lonely Planet's best cosmopolitan cities in the world.

These really don't say much, especially those last two. I don't find National Geographic and Lonely Planet to be particularly important sources on the matter that their rankings deserve to be in the lead. I'll go ahead and get rid of those two myself at least. Feel free to revert.

And from reading the lead I have learned not much about Chennai's culture and local population, even though it has been included in the body. I don't feel experienced enough to incorporate that content in the lead do those edits myself, is there anyone else that could do it? Wreaderick (talk) 11:33, 18 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Update GDP

[edit]

The page of chennai has got to be the most outdated out of all the major cities of India. Partly because any updates get reverted. Update GDP Frdsah (talk) 03:56, 1 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to prevent data decay

[edit]

adding mayor and commisioner information can cause data decay. Which may be restricted to Greater Chennai Corporation Wiki page Xmpr15 (talk) 09:07, 23 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
