Former politician

[edit]

@Muboshgu Can you give examples of how he's still a current politician rather than a former/retired politician? Interstellarity (talk) 00:05, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

You don't have to be in office to be a politician. His library opens in less than a week, that's political. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:34, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
How so? This is a genuine question from a non-American who is not fully familiar with that American tradition. HiLo48 (talk) 00:49, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know that it's "American tradition". George W. Bush has taken almost no part in politics after he left office. Obama is very active with endorsements, for instance. He's a former officeholder, but not a former politician. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:57, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I was specifically asking about the library thing. That sems to be mainly American. HiLo48 (talk) 03:49, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Obama still fundraises for the Democratic Party, stumps for candidates he has endorsed, and so on. He is also a superdelegate. Being a "politician" is not limited to holding an elected office. Zaathras (talk) 22:32, 16 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
