- ALT1 is too long. How about ALT1a: ... that the name of Alice Sollier (pictured), the first Black French woman to qualify as a medical doctor, will be added to the Eiffel Tower? DS (talk) 14:45, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- ALT1b: ... that it has been proposed by the Mayor of Paris that the name of Alice Sollier (pictured), the first Black French woman to qualify as a medical doctor, be added to the Eiffel Tower? - This is more specifically accurate. MumphingSquirrel (talk) 18:23, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Active voice is easier to read. ALT1c: ... that the Mayor of Paris has suggested adding the name of Alice Sollier (pictured), the first Black French woman to qualify as a medical doctor, to the Eiffel Tower? DS (talk) 00:10, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
Happy with that - thanks MumphingSquirrel (talk) 00:31, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- @MumphingSquirrel: Would you support this article being used for DYK's International Women's Day set? Z1720 (talk) 03:01, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Z1720: That would be great! Thanks MumphingSquirrel (talk) 07:41, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
Interesting, detailed biography on fine sources, French and offline sources accepted AGF. I trimmed the image caption. The image is licensed and a good illustration. I like ALT1c best, and think IWD would be a good occasion to run this. In the article, you could perhaps trim references a bit (I don't need 5 for one fact), and also sort them by ref number. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:11, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- @MumphingSquirrel:, can I get a quote from the Pierrette Caire Dieu source please? One/s which support her being the "the first Black French woman to qualify as a medical doctor". @Gerda Arendt:, please don't AGF on offline sources or ones which need a translation. We need to verify sources prior to approval. TarnishedPathtalk 07:34, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- hi @TarnishedPath: - if you go to page 2 of the PCD source there is a RÉSUMÉ/ABSTRACT section in both French and English. The English language one reads "The daughter of a freed Guyanese slave who became a dentist, Alice Sollier, née Mathieu-Dubois, was the first black French physician, graduated in 1887". Is that sufficient? There is a lot more detail in French in the article. The translation is of French "noire" which indicates female in a way that English does not. Have I undertood your query correctly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MumphingSquirrel (talk • contribs) 18:37, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- @MumphingSquirrel: for future reference, your pings won't work if you don't sign your comment in the same edit as you perform the ping. As per the source, it wasn't so much as I needed a translation as google books preview wasn't shopwing me the pages I wanted. TarnishedPathtalk 02:54, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
