Surviving in the cold, what considerations are needed?

Hello! I'm a bit of a TTRPG hobbyist and an avid enjoyer of the survival genre. However something that's kinda bothered me slightly since I started running my own games is that survival rules in some of the bigger TTRPGs can feel lackluster. I'm writing a book to try and improve on this, and even add a few extra things depending on how expansive this already gets.

Why I write this post and any subsequent posts? I understand the bare bones basics of surviving in extreme cold environments, in surviving in the desert, but I don't know much else about other environments or even the finer points. SO!

What all needs to be considered for surviving cold environments? (Think Alaska/North Canada). I know a decent shelter that keeps the snow off and the heat near you is important for the night, and good insulative clothes, but anything else I may be missing?

Yeah... My most recent groups kept falling apart, partly due to my mental health and also because people kept jumping ship after one or two sessions. No real objectional material for the most part.

If you tried that your thopter would get shredded in the equitorial Coriolis Storms.

I'm new, but I refuse to use AI. AI doesn't know what is needed to integrate one script with another to make it fit the way I want it to.

800+ hours here. Most of the hate is from people who are disatisfied with the endgame and the direction funcom took with additional content, since non story content kinda falls off after you reach T5. Story content is amazing imo, although Ill admit i have some gripes with it especially chapter 2 and 3 feeling kinda like set up filler.

What I say is this: temper your expectations. This is by no means a 10/10 or even a 9/10. 8/10 feels a bit generous but there are parts of it that help put it there. Do I enjoy it? Yes. Do I recommend it? Cautiously.

Yeah... Crossplay between console and pc can be complex and it's still a relatively new concept. It's easier if you plan on it early in the dev cycle but that doesn't mean it's suddenly like adding an effect that heals you over time to an item. I too am sadge that they aren't able to add it at this time but I also get why.

You need to have made the soul snare, which after doing all that you should be able to talk to the caretaker at the first shrine and get that quest... Also if you didn't already know how to start Act 3 then I hate to say it you're missing a handful of achievements.

...no the Water Wars DLC does not include the ice caps or lock it behind a paywall. It is strictly cosmetic. They may do something like what you asked about when they drop the ice caps update but they have outright said that future DLCs they want to avoid putting non cosmetic content behind a paywall. So there's likely no paid expansions coming.
