History bends towards the values of those who are willing to fight and have institutional power and right now the right wing of this country dominates institutional power at almost every level. This line really gives away the game. Local investors is code word for local real estate developers and donors that didn’t get their way politically. This idea that institutional experience is more important than actually ideology is an albatross around the Democratic Party who refuses to deliver material change for their constituents even when they have power because they are beholden to “local investors” and not the actual voters that put losers like Letitia James into power
