Yeah but he's arguing without any awareness of history. America has a close history with fascism, and that is arguably closer now under orange pedophile than it was in 1938-1939.
But good job on missing 'those who don't study history...' As you clearly don't understand it, the rest is 'are doomed to repeat it', it's a famous phrase, it's entirely in keeping with my point and you just missed it, so...
Try being a 22 year old looking for insurance now...
For the majority of my life in the UK, my car insurance, including some very silly expensive cars, was dramatically lower than the US. About 15 odd years ago everything changed. It wasn't because of more accidents, it wasn't because of more risk, it was just insurance companies ramping it up because they were being bought out, or threatened to be bought out by, us companies.
With covid it happened again.
I was paying 1/3rd for way better coverage than a us insurance would have done in 2005.
PS I got all my cancer treatments covered on the NHS, the equivalent in the US would probably be 200k+ _after_ insurance over the years, potentially millions because at some point they'd deny it for pre-existing condition. You have no idea how the rest of the world deals with this stuff so much better than you.
So firstly, just write 'the swastika'. Don't do this 'i'm not touching it' bullshit.
Secondly other symbols were known, you playing the 'americans are dumb' card doesn't work.
I'm in my 50s, I spoke to US service people in their 20s and 30s during, say, Bosnia when I was dealing with the aftermath and talked about this exact subject.
So it's not only since Charlottesville. Nothing really changed with that, I mean, nothing changed because your country was slapped in the face that you have a neo-nazi problem and did fuck all. All the knowledge was already there. Your country took part in the Nuremberg trials, your country watched the Eichman trial in then record numbers, this is not a new thing.
This whole 'ohh we didn't know about nazis' is just a shitty lie.
That's not even getting into US support for borderline fascist governments (Pinochet) and/or neo-nazi organisations in opposition of communism in Europe and around the world in the 1970s and 1980s.
But, sure, you had no idea.
No idea when madison square gardens got booked out for a neo nazi rally in 1939. No idea when Ford was openly espousing for nazis to take over America.
Those who don't study history...
I mean, I've known what it was since I was 15 and got taught it in school, but then UK at that time (not the same as now nearly 40 years later) education vs US etc.
It was still known, it was still recognisable, it was not a casual wtf thing.
However he's also called out racism, spoken up for LGBTQ+ rights and said he regretted the tattoo.
Why is this am issue when you have a pedophile rapist in the white house and a not-anymore-trillionaire doing the fucking sieg heil? Why is this the focus when his opponents are way more bigoted and support a pedophile and 1930s Nazi policies which he opposes.
Maybe he's lying, maybe, but you have elected politicians supporting and espousing the most rights-violating acts in the last 60 years who somehow do not get anywhere near the attention.
