I need quick advice on the supplements

General Questions/Discussions

Hey,

I’m high school senior from Georgia (the country, not the state 🇬🇪) planning to apply Early Decision to Northwestern’s Radio/Television/Film program for the next admissions cycle

Since Northwestern relies on its own supplemental prompts, I want to make sure my essays hit the exact right note for the admissions department

For anyone currently enrolled in the program or recently graduated, what do admissions officers actually want to see in these prompts?

Any tips on specific professors, unique RTVF resources, or just general advice on how to make my application undeniable to the committee while asking for financial aid would be incredibly appreciated

Thankss

Incoming freshman who wants to major in polisci- I have a few questions 🙏
Incoming freshman who wants to major in polisci- I have a few questions 🙏
Academics/Classes

for context: I was going to major in econ but changed my mind. I’m interested more in the international side of polisci. I’m on the prelaw track and want to go to law school after undergrad. I have strong reading and writing skills.

Questions:

I know that GPA matters a lot for LS, how difficult is the coursework for the major? And are the grades inflated or deflated?

I’m considering picking up the Legal Studies major in sophomore year if I get accepted into the program. Is it worth it? I’ve heard that legal-related majors in undergrad often get overlooked in LS admissions. I also heard that the legal studies program helps students get good internships, (that’s the main reason I want to do it) is it worth doing it just for those?

How many hours outside of class are people dedicating to the work for the polisci major?

How are the faculty? Are they very willing to help students who are struggling?

Are the classes more focused on teaching students theory or letting them discuss topics?

Do undergrads get a lot of research opportunities in this department?

Thank you all very much!

Do I need an iPad for my major?
Do I need an iPad for my major?
Academics/Classes

Hi! Im an incoming undergrad for global health and polisci. I already have a macbook air that I love and plan to use for notes and whatnot. but i was wondering if i should get an iPad too for my global health major since lots of ppl say you might want an ipad for notes depending on your major (aka if its STEM). would global health fall under this, and should i get an ipad in addition to my macbook? or would plain notebooks and pencil/pen suffice?
