Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Europe

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Europe. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Europe|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Europe. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Southeast Europe protests (2024–present) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

I could find no reliable sources connecting these protests together, so the article could be a WP:SYNTH violation (connecting unrelated protests together mostly because of physical proximity). The article gives a broad overview of "regional discontent" (democratic backsliding) before providing a list of protests. Note that the article was originally created in 2025 as "Balkan Spring", citing a Reddit post. The term "Balkan Spring" has popped up throughout the 2010s and 2020s, but one has never materialized. Gothic war against Aegidius (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

I propose merging to Battle of Orleáns (463) because the only battle known with some confidence in this war is the one generally thought to have happened in 463. It is the same topic. Andrew Lancaster (talk) 13:59, 15 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, the target should be Battle of Orléans (463). A version without the accent might be better really on English Wikipedia.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 14:01, 15 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Franco-Roman War of 486 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

I propose merging to Battle of Soissons (486) because the topic is clearly identical, referring to a single comment in a 6th century text about a battle. I see no practical way to split this topic without creating a useless fork. Andrew Lancaster (talk) 13:54, 15 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Doing a cursory search on the internet, this appears to lack any form of significance that would qualify it under the WP:GNG. Additionally, this article merely covers a timeline and the group objectives, failing to show any notability throughout. A person of sorts (talk) 02:33, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
