Green manure

[edit]

Hi Polunbus - thanks for fixing the metrics at green manure; unfortunately, it's only half-done, as it needs to be in kg/ha for the first figure, please: most people don't have a clue what an 'acre' is. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 21:09, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and also that table needs fixing too, please :-) MPF (talk) 21:12, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, @MPF. Good catch!
For the table, is there any chance you know what kind of tons (short, long, metric) this article is using? I can put "metricate" back if it remains unclear. I was going to include a draft of the table, but must not understand something about the Wikitext and got an error.
Thanks! Unfortunately not; it's from a reference by a US author if that offers any clue, so whatever is most used in the USA. - MPF (talk) 21:38, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, it's going to be short ton. I updated the table and will keep a sharper eye out next time!
I appreciate the advice. Polunbus (talk) 21:45, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the help, much appreciated! - MPF (talk) 22:42, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:42, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Ningi, Nigeria when you modified the page, you introduced conversion errors. The {{convert}} template can be complex and I encourage you to read it's documentation but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you always use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:46, 30 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, convert is a complicated template, but I did not introduce that error. A previous editor did.
Thank you for also policing convert errors! Polunbus (talk) 02:06, 30 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, since you were here User:Zackmann08, the note you left is so polished and filled with helpful links. It looks similar to when people are alerted of vandalism. Are these something editors are copy and pasting from somewhere? Or is there some tool like Twinkle (I think that's what it's called) that helps with this sort of automatic commenting/instructing?
I think I'm missing out on something I should read up on. Polunbus (talk) 00:23, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So I am, in fact, using twinkle! But I have written my own custom message which you can find at User:Zackmann08/Unknown-params-warning. If you look into your WP:TWINKLE settings (assuming you have it installed), you have the ability to add custom messages. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 00:53, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. my bad, thanks! Polunbus (talk) 14:30, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

conversions

A measurement should only be converted on its first use Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 13:19, 9 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Sturmvogel 66 Gotcha! Thanks. Later, I'll look to clean up after myself if you haven't already. Polunbus (talk) 13:32, 9 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
great! looks like you handled it. thank you and apologies!
I'd like to bring to your attention that some converts use US spelling and some do not. There were a couple couple cases where I attempted to standardize on US spelling. Up to you if you wish to adjust. Polunbus (talk) 00:17, 10 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Portrait miniature when you modified the page, you introduced conversion errors. The {{convert}} template can be complex and I encourage you to read its documentation but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it and when conversion errors are present they will show up in red. It is strongly recommended that you always use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:12, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Zackmann08 I didn't introduce any errors, but also didn't correct all the existing errors as I'd intended!
I used the notation (for example) "9 mm × 10 mm (0.35 in × 0.39 in)" where I see you used "9 mm × 10 mm (0.35 in × 0.39 in)". They appear equivalent to me. Polunbus (talk) 02:48, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize. I mistakenly assigned blame to you. You are correct, it was the edit before yours! My apologies. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:50, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like this is not the first time I have blamed you for another users edits. Please accept my sincere apologies. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:52, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Zackmann08 Apology accepted, of course! Polunbus (talk) 03:16, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
