icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Ann Fawcett Story, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 10:55, 4 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MaterialScientist, Ann Fawcett Story (nee Morris) is my G.G.Grandmother. Unfortunately there are incorrect published information already linked to her Wikipedia entry, one of which is an archive that is not able to be corrected, that incorrectly claimed her husband died in 1911, when he in fact died in Coolum Qld on 18 March 1917.
Ann Morris and her husband Wilson Fawcett Story had 9 children together (not 7) - Magdalene Jane Fawcett Story 1868, Fanny Elizabeth Fawcett Story 1870, Philip Hugh Fawcett Story 1873, Edith Mary Fawcett Story 1874, Cecil Wilson Fawcett Story 1875, Mark Fawcett Story 1876, Harold Fawcett Story 1877, Dorothea Fawcett Story 1879 (all born in England), and Guilbert Morris Fawcett Story 1883 (NSW, Australia).
You can find the first EIGHT children listed on the immigration manefest for the Forfarshire’s arrival in Sydney, Jan 1882 in the NSW online records (see sheet 11 of 19) https://search.records.nsw.gov.au/primo-explore/fulldisplay?context=L&vid=61SRA&lang=en_US&docid=INDEX3100211
Their NINTH child, Guilbert Morris Fawcett Story’s birth is registered in NSW Australia - registration 8466/1883 https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search/result?16
I also have evidence of all nine children listed by Wilson, on the birth registration form of Wilson’s 10th child to another woman in Qld in 1909 - I have a photocopy of the original hand written birth registration form completely by Wilson Fawcett Story himself, provided to me directly from the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages Qld (original record is now held by the Qld State Archives).
Wilson is correctly named in the main text as Ann’s husband, but incorrectly labelled “William” in the summary box top-right on the page.
Ann’s career is incorrectly annotated in Wikipedia, based on errors in the Australian Biography. Ann actually commence on 5 Feb 1885 at Hurlstone (not 1886), she later formally “Retired” from the position of Directress of Cookery in the NSW Public Service under Clause 49 of the Civil Service Act (NSW) 1884, on the 29 Nov 1895. Her retirement gratuity was £132.18s.4p annually effective from 31 Dec 1895 (not 1896). This information was taken directly from her employment records held by Museums of History, NSW (part of NSW State Archives) - records held on Microfiche of which I have a copy (although even in 1880s they misspelled Ann’s Surname as “Storey” instead of Fawcett Story).
