[edit]I hope that once your training session is over, you'll restore the full version of your user page. My attention was brought to the change as you had removed the Women in Red user box.--Ipigott (talk) 08:42, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

Henry Henderson Institute
[edit]Thankyou for your creation thankyou on Henry Henderson Institute. I did the best I could, and it's gratifying to see that other editors have since done better.
I have no recollection of starting that article. It must have been a spinoff from Henry Henderson (missionary), another article which I don't remember starting, but which almost certainly arose because of a bad link to DAB page Henry Henderson. Free Church missionaries were never one of my specialist areas, but I do remember starting John Mackenzie (missionary) because of a DABlink - a remarkable man, from the back of beyond, who from southern Africa raised such a stink in Westminster that It resulted three-quarters of a century later in the formation of a post-colonial country, Botswana. I don't share his religious opinions, but admire both his political activities, and the way he became disgusted with politics and returned to his vocation. IMO he deserves a better memorial, but he wouldn't have cared.
I approve of the products of Knockando distillery. I think it is safe to say that John Mackenzie would not have. Narky Blert (talk) 17:05, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks NB, I'm impressed by these articles. Blantyre mission seems to have been a force for good. Missionary Scott was removed for being too friendly and for contemplating the idea of black ministers. Not sure of the link to the distillery???... but I can see how that idea might invade your narrative? Thanks for your work. I see you mentioned in the creation of good stuff. I'm focusing on a project called motokazi.org where we are bigging up Malawian women. Best wishes Roger aka Victuallers (talk) 07:48, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
Eiffel Women thanks
[edit]- Hi, Just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for your sterling work on the 72, especially tracking down some of their images.
- There is an online editathon/get together with WikiMediaUK on the Eiffel Women via Zoom this Saturday 10.30 am UK time for which I am gradually tidying up the Googledoc this week. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/women-of-the-eiffel-tower-edit-a-thon-tickets-1990315293621 if you fancy joining or its your sort of thing. There will be a profession and place(s) of education and employment columns listed by the time I finish, so hoping to get the networks connected through blue links.
- Thanks once again for your editing on the 72 - its has made such a difference!

- Hi MS, saw your great work. I joined in early as I worked on the 72 men a long time ago. I look at the news and it seems to have gone quiet on the 72 women. I'm guessing its because it was associated with the previous mayor and the current one is not one of her fans. However he woyld be a brave mayor to drop the idea. I have created Femmes et Sciences and its destined for DYK and the front page. Can you do a few edits and checkovers? It would be good to get all of the recent editors to be credited for the DYK. Victuallers (talk) 08:57, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
- Good to see you are taking a renewed interest in the Eiffel Women. I was wondering if you could add a fair use image to Denise Barthomeuf. You're much better on these images than I am.--Ipigott (talk) 12:52, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Ian, I can't find a picture of her of any description. I have looked at every one I think. Victuallers (talk) 14:13, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Although it's not very clear, I thought the one in this article might do.--Ipigott (talk) 09:05, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
- good spot, I hadn't seen that one. It's now in the article. Pleased to do another if you find fair use images where we have none. Victuallers (talk) 16:28, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

The DCWC is back!
[edit]
Hey Victuallers, the Developing Countries WikiContest is back for a third year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner Generalissima (talk · contribs); and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs)! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules; discussion can be found on the contest talk page.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). I just added a short article on this Malawian bishop. I was wondering if you are in contact with some active Malawian Wikipedians, and if they could perhaps add a picture of Chitsulo? Or of his statue? There is evidently a statue of him in Mua at the Chamare Museum, part of the Kungoni Centre of Culture and Art. Brianyoumans (talk) 03:19, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Brian, I have added an image and a few editing tips if you look at my edit summaries. Nice article.... any interest in leading Malawian women, their birth places, churches, etc? Victuallers (talk) 10:17, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- I would have to say... not particularly? When I see a subject that I think should have an article, sometimes I try to write it. I got interested in Bishop Chitsulo because I was going through some of the neglected surname articles in Zimbabwe and Malawi, adding entries to them. I did that with Moyo for instance. It's not an area I have a *particular* interest in, although old friends of mine did go to Malawi through the Peace Corps many years ago. Thanks for adding the image; I am not up on the niceties of the copyright issues, so I'm glad someone else dealt with it.Brianyoumans (talk) 16:12, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for the editing tips. But, um, I suspect they depend on me using some sort of editing tools, which I don't - I still type out all the tags and stuff as I have for the last twenty years. I lazily figure that someone will come along and update my formatting, if they think it matters.Brianyoumans (talk) 16:18, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- I think you suspect incorrectly. (Which Moyo?). You just click in the right place and refs tidy themselves. I type tags too. Updating formatting is trivial but knowing which reference applies to which sentence will require a bit of repeated work. Victuallers (talk) 16:35, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- I will give that a try. I meant that I had added names and reorganized the article Moyo, which is a disambiguation page.Brianyoumans (talk) 17:13, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
