Mistake in the video

[edit]

In the video "woman residing in the United States speaking Telugu" under phonology section there is a mistake where she states that telugu is originated from sanskrit which is an indo aryan derived language, whereas telugu is derived from proto dravidian language family as the rest of the article states. 2409:40F0:3021:8781:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 18:40, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: Add 'Teluguic' subgroup to Telugu language family tree

[edit]

In the Infobox under Language family, the lineage is currently shown as: Dravidian → South Dravidian → South Dravidian II → Telugu

I propose updating it to: Dravidian → South Dravidian → South Dravidian II → Teluguic → Telugu

Reason: The infobox already includes intermediate subgroup nodes such as South Dravidian, so for the purpose of maintaining consistency and accuracy, the linguistically recognized Teluguic subgroup should also be represented. This reflects the genealogical structure more precisely, just as the inclusion of South Dravidian does.

Error in translations under phonology

[edit]

Under the "Phonology" section, one of the examples is incorrect - the words gadi (room) and gaddi (grass) use different consonants. Gadi (room) is /gadi/ in IPA (correctly listed) while gaddi (grass) is /gaɖːi/, not /gadːi/ as listed. As far as I know /gadːi/ is a word, though I do not know what it means. Remove the "Telugu Flag"

[edit]

The flag attached in the article claiming to be the "Telugu flag" used by Telugu enthusiasts in social media has no basis. Most Telugus and Telugu language enthusiasts have never seen that flag. Wikimaker05 (talk) 11:43, 15 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
