Talk page content reminders

[edit]

The talk page is not a place to put your preferred text for the article and get in an edit war changing it. The talk page is for constructive, civil discussion.

Changes to the article need to be supported by reliable sources, and there needs to be consensus among editors before changes are made. To that end, the talk page is a place to discuss those potential changes. Remember to focus on the content, not the contributors. —C.Fred (talk) 13:47, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Content edits for Sanjay Govil page

[edit]
  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

The Career section should be updated to include the following:

In 2025, Govil secured a 50% stake in the Cardiff-based cricket team Welsh Fire[1] [2], in a partnership designed to attract new talent and investment to the franchise and its tournament, The Hundred (cricket).[3].

  • Why it should be changed:

This is a short, factual update to the article for timeliness. This is also a topic of public interest given the celebrity following and involvement in this cricket team in particular. Thank you for your consideration.

Partly done, "designed to attract new talent and investment" is only weakly supported by the sources and sounds pretty promotional. Rusalkii (talk) 00:17, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Content edits for Sanjay Govil page (2)

[edit]
  • New edit I think should be changed (with citations):

The Career section should be updated in the following way:

Delete: Govil and the team partnered with George Mason University to build a combined cricket and baseball stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.

Replace with: Govil and the team are exploring various options for a permanent cricket stadium in the DMV area.[4] [5]

  • Why it should be changed:

This is a factual update to reflect that Govil and Washington Freedom are no longer exploring a George Mason based stadium. This article cites interest in RFK Stadium; however, we now know that the Washington Commanders [[4]] are likely to go to RFK Stadium. What is most correct in this case is to say Govil and Washington Freedom are exploring options for a permanent cricket stadium.

Thank you for your consideration. Lauren at L Strategies (talk) 13:02, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: Special:Diff/1298276965, did not remove the Fairfax plans but noted their cancellation and the ongoing effort to construct a stadium elsewhere in the DMV area. The sources you provided were good and have been used in addition to [5]. If you believe I've made an error please ping me. Edits for Sanjay Govil page

[edit]
  • New edit #1 I think should be changed (with citations):

The article introduction should be updated in the following way:

Sanjay Govil is an Indian-American businessman. He is the owner of the Washington Freedom cricket team, a co-owner of the Welsh Fire cricket team, and the founder and chairman of Infinite Computer Solutions.[1][2]

  • Why it should be changed:

This is a factual update to reflect information already listed under the Career section showing Govil is a co-owner of Welsh Fire, a team with significant following and influence in the cricket community.

  • New edit #2 I think should be changed (with citations):

The Career section should be updated in the following way:

Add: In October 2025 it was announced that Govil is a co-investor in Ari Emanuel's MARI venture, focused on live sports and entertainment. [3]

  • Why it should be changed:

Ari Emanuel is a figure of public influence and the MARI fund has a significant number of influential backers. This update is factual and supported by reporting from well known outlets.

Partly done: Hello Alexandra, I've implemented edit #1 as proposed in Special:Diff/1316448924. I've not implemented edit #2 as it does not appear to be due based on available coverage and it further appears to constitute a minor aspect of the subject. If you believe edit #2 is due coverage, then please reach consensus for inclusion here first.
