To further clarify, content or changes to one article is almost completely irrelevant to discussons on other articles. According to those who reverted you, the citations you added were from tabloid sources. If the description of pornographic actress is to be added, it must be accompanied by a reliable source. Show me significant awards from the hard-core porn industry that Pandey has won comparable to multiple AVN awards by Leone. You won't because they don't exist. Leone's career in hard-core porn lasted years - List_of_filmography_and_awards_of_Sunny_Leone#Pornographic_films. Using Leone as a comparison fails in so many ways. Uploading a sex tape to a social media site that subsequently gets reposted and becomes the subject of a controversy does not make 'pornographic film actress' one's profession. The situation here is more like Pamela Anderson than Sunny Leone. And more importantly, the sources do not support it. MrOllie (talk) 19:40, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace

The birthplace has been a target of repeated vandalism and unsourced edits. Here is a rough sequence:

  • From 2011 when the article was created, the Infobox mentioned the birthplace as Mumbai, although it was unsourced.
  • In 2013, the article was deleted at AfD. When it was recreated 2 months later, the Infobox now said Bihar, unsourced, and without a city/town name.
  • In a few months, an IP changed it to Delhi. Still unsourced, and this was not reverted.
  • In 2019, an IP changed it to Kanpur. Still unsourced, and this was not reverted.
  • In 2021, an editor for the first time, provided a source (indianexpress) that said Mumbai, and added the birthplace to the "Early life" section.
  • However, he had not changed the Infobox, and the section mention was immediately changed back to Kanpur to be consistent with the Infobox.
  • Today, an IP changed it to Mumbai, and I reverted it before realizing the cited source did have the subject quote that she was born and brought up in Mumbai.

Sources over the internet give the birthplace variously as Kanpur, Mumbai and Delhi, and we don't know if they were actually using this Wikipedia article as reference, especially during the death stunt in 2024, when this page had Kanpur, and all media obituaries mentioned Kanpur! Removal of unsourced/unreliable BLP content — sex tape claim (refs 16 & 17)

I am requesting the removal of the following line from the article:

"Pandey also uploaded a sex tape to Instagram in which she was with her boyfriend, that she later deleted."

Reasons:

  1. Source reliability: Both citations ([16] DNA India, [17] OrissaPOST) are tabloid/entertainment news sources reporting on a viral social media incident. Neither source independently verified the content — they are based purely on social media speculation and user-uploaded material that was deleted within hours. These do not meet Wikipedia's standard of reliable sourcing for a contentious BLP claim.
  2. BLP concern: Per WP:BLP, contentious material about living persons must be "verifiable, accurate, and written with care." A claim of this nature — involving private sexual content — requires stronger sourcing than viral entertainment blogs.
  3. Undue weight: This was a minor, self-deleted social media post from 2019. Its continued presence in the article gives it undue permanence and prominence per WP:WEIGHT.

Unreliable/misattributed source for social media claim (ref 7)

I am also requesting review of the following line:

"Pandey became popular through her social media accounts, including Twitter, when she started posting her semi-nude photos. Her revealing photos received significant media attention."

Reason:

Citation [7] (Times of India, Sep 2013 — "Poonam, Sherlyn, Mallika: Who dares to bare for fame?") is a general opinion/listicle piece grouping multiple celebrities together. It does not specifically verify the claim that Pandey became popular through semi-nude photos. Per WP:V, sources must directly support the specific claim made. This source does not.

Additionally, the framing carries a negative connotation unsuitable for a neutral encyclopedic biography per WP:NPOV. Suggesting removal or rewrite with a more neutrally worded, properly sourced alternative. Sumitjh239 (talk) 02:57, 5 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of BLP content cited to pornographic website (ref 11)

Requesting immediate removal of the following line:

"However, she did upload a video on her mobile app in which she is seen stripping naked at the Wankhede Stadium at night."

Citation [11] is from onlyindian.net — an adult pornographic video website. Per WP:RS, pornographic websites are not considered reliable sources. Per WP:BLP, contentious claims about living persons must be supported by reliable, published sources.

Furthermore, the archived version of this source (Wayback Machine, 4 captures) shows the video is completely unavailable — files return 404 errors and no text content is verifiable. The source title itself includes the phrase "porn video."

This citation fails on multiple grounds:

  • Not a reliable source (porn site)
  • Source content is unverifiable (broken archive)
  • Violates BLP policy for living persons
