Possible Photo Change?

Hi all - done a recent edit and saw that there is a new, upto date picture of Phil Foden available at Manchester City warm up 2022.jpeg

Only reason why I haven't already done this is because while Foden is at the forefront of the picture, the picture also clearly include Nathan Ake, Rodri and Erling Haaland in the background. Is this a problem? What is everyone's thoughts on this? MaddoxHo (talk) 23:37, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Best in the world"?

In edits three times today, Abishek456 has added a descriptor of Foden as among the "best in the world", including plaudits for his "technical skill", "versatility" and "vision"; this has been with the addition of sources that don't back this up. The most recent version was using this source, which details that he won an award in the Premier League a year ago, and says nothing about him being among the "best players in the world" nor any of the attributes claimed.
Plainly, Foden isn't widely described by sources as among the best in the world. When I search up "best players in the world", I get a number of reliable sources listing the actual best players in the world, and I'll detail each one and where they rank Foden.

ESPN's top 100 footballer ranking doesn't include him at all. Not among attacking mids, not among wingers, not among centre-midfielders
In 2024, FourFourTwo had him 17th, but now don't even rank him in the top 10 in his position.
Also from 2024, The Guardian had him 15th.
GiveMeSport's top 25 does not rank him.
RadioTimes's top 10 does not rank him.

Considering most sources don't rank Foden as being among the best in the world, and the source added doesn't back it up, I've removed it per WP:BLPREMOVE. If anyone has any reliable sources that actually outright prove that Foden is considered among the best in the world, feel free to present them here, but until then it shouldn't be added. — ser! ^{(chat to me - see my edits)} 17:31, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Indconquistador: (The same user as above but renamed) The sources you have added still don't back this claim up.

BBC covers his manager calling him the best in the league. So does the Prem source. Managers say this about their players all the time. It doesn't make it a "wide regard". It also doesn't say anything about "the world", just the Prem
This source and this source are again just about the PFA award; they just say that he won an award in 2024, not that he's "widely regarded as one of the best in the world".
This source appears to be a blog and is self-published; maybe if it was backed up by other references it'd be useful, but it's not.

You still haven't demonstrated that Foden is considered one of the best in the world. Please provide some actual sources saying this, because none of the ones you have demonstrate this "wide regard". ser! ^{(chat to me - see my edits)} 11:16, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Indconquistador: As I said on your talk page, other players (such as Palmer and Saka, who you referenced) have sources that actually say this; Foden doesn't. None of your sources actually claim that he's one of the best players in the world, and so it does not belong in the lead of his article. This has now been added again with the exact same sources, except with a YouTube video from last year which asks a question and doesn't actually back up what's being said.
