Stephen Harrison (June 4, 2024). "The Most Heated Debate on Trump's Felony Conviction Is Happening on … Wikipedia?". Slate. Retrieved June 4, 2024. Trump himself is unprecedented, but that hasn't stopped Wikipedians from using precedent to argue about the writing of his Wikipedia page. Take former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich—his article bluntly states that he was convicted and incarcerated for public corruption, but that fact isn't mentioned until the page's second sentence. Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy's bribery scandal likewise appears in sentence two.
The second sentence of the article currently says,
"In 2021, he was found guilty of having tried to bribe a judge in 2014 to obtain information and spending beyond legal campaign funding limits during his 2012 reelection campaign."
Though I am someone who isn't French and who doesn't know this man well at all, I still raise an eyebrow at this being mentioned incredibly early, and I doubt I would be alone in worrying about bias-- this could be compared to when the Donald Trump article was edited to have the words "convicted felon" appear in the first sentence. Although statements like these are factual, Sarkozy, like Trump, is not best known for his criminal record-- the notability of both of these men largely stems from other sources. In fact, the article says Sarkozy had been a mayor of a Paris suburb for 19 years, a cabinet member (several times), and the leader of a major political party.
I might be mistaken, but this former French president certainly seems like a controversial figure, so I think this should be changed in at least some form. In my opinion, the fifth paragraph does a pretty adequate job of summarizing the criminal charges, and the second sentence could either be moved down there in some way or removed entirely. 2600:4040:A233:6500:638D:C4B2:522A:EE12 (talk) 20:19, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Latest and most major news about Sarkozy is his conviction, this isn't true for George Floyd and Floyd's crimes are unrelated to the reasons he's famous for, unlike Sarkozy The basque savior (talk) 15:00, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Add about Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's two "metal levers" of power.
Is it appropriate? Add about Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's two "metal levers" of power.
Worked contre Maria Le Pen with the "metal lever's."
Mr. President Macron , - is waiting his turn. Well, the large number of Wikipedia users who have been worked on with Putin's "metal levers" are not worth mentioning.
