20 cars not listed
[edit]The article text says that 43 are known to exist (as of an unknown date) but there are only 23 listed in the table. Where are the other 20? Slambo (Speak) 16:26, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Wrong link to Andre Picard
[edit]Hello,
In this article it is stated that Andre Picard launched the Merci train idea in 1949. However if you look at the linked page, the Andre Picard depicted is born in 1951. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.250.46.36 (talk) 15:18, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
Alaska et al.
[edit]It says "[49 cars were] divided amongst the 48 states with the remaining car to be shared by the District of Columbia and Hawaii.". Why is DC and Hawaii mentioned, when Alaska, Puerto Rico etc. aren't? Is there any sources/evidence suggesting DC and Hawaii were the only non-states which received anything? If not, why? An elaboration of how DC and Hawaii shared their contents would also be relevant.
Italy?
[edit]Hello, I’m reacting to the sentence: “Donations for the Merci Train came from over six million citizens of France and Italy in the form of dolls, statues, clothes, ornamental objects, furniture”. What is the evidence/reference you have about gifts also from Italy? Because, after having visited Iowa’s boxcar 2 years ago, as a Frenchman I proposed my help to dig about what was displayed there, find more historic information and translate for the team. I worked so on some dolls, paintings, artifacts and completed a big press review; at the point that I have been proudly recognized as ”Honorary Historian of Voiture 82”. So, out of all my work in this area, I can tell you I didn’t see any connection with Italy. If any doubt, I have no bias with Italy, a country and people I do appreciate. With the French and Italian situations at the time (massive strikes, even sabotages on railways, altogether various actions to destabilize these countries with the push of Stalin’s USSR), if an initiative in Italy comparable to the Merci train has existed it would have been completed in Italy and not “double the mess” in crossing the border. But again, on what is based this “and Italy?” Philippe Edouard (talk) 15:36, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
