Is this claim true?

> Meijer was the first retailer to launch the "supermarket" or "superstore" in the U.S., combining a multitude of merchandise under one roof, when they opened the first Thrifty Acres in 1962

I've seen references to Fred Meyer stores fitting the description perhaps 30 years earlier. 24.236.207.173 (talk) 22:04, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

1962 was the year Walmart, Target, and K-Mart all launched as big box, superstore retail brands. It was an industry trend, NOT an innovation of Meijer. The edits suggesting the company 'pioneered' the concept seem suspiciously like insider edits to promote the company. The 'pioneering' sentence at the summary at the top of the article cites no sources. ~2025-39627-89 (talk) 03:22, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Firing/Arresting of autistic employee:

[edit]

As bodycam footage for this event was released, I suggest an edit to this companies page to reflect this event, below the firing of a christian employee. 72.42.175.21 (talk) 20:42, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

James firing

[edit]

The story of the firing of James is a complete lie. He has stated himself that he is not special needs. there was not a 3 month invention, he stole off the store shelf. snopes has all the correct information. 75.133.244.109 (talk) 20:20, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For the lead section, is it worth in this intro sentence about how they operate stores in Kentucky, which is part of the Southern United States: is an American supercenter chain that primarily operates throughout the Midwestern United States though they also operate stores in Kentucky, which is part of the Southern United States. 24.209.24.8 (talk) 04:44, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Day Creature (talk) 14:37, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Meijer's operations in the South are limited to Kentucky and are not significant enough to warrant mentioning that they "also operate in the Southeast" in addition to "primarily operating in the Midwest." 42-BRT (talk) 22:58, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Original research

[edit]

Large portions of the "store design" section are lengthy descriptions of the architectural and layout aspects of Meijer's store design which are completely unsourced. I suspect that these paragraphs constitute original research (and in some cases are of questionable accuracy) and have added inline tags to that end. I am working to try and find published sources supporting this material. 42-BRT (talk) 22:55, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
