This article is a total joke
[edit]I suggest more references to government reports, such as DoL Inspector General Semiannual reports to congress. The frequent use of the word "ensure" in the article highlights its bogusity.
For example, this is total horse manure as any inspector general report over the past 25 years will attest:
"The LCA ensures the employment of H-1B workers will not harm the wages or working conditions of U.S. workers in similar roles.
(1) The H-1B statutes require the DoL to approve whatever the employer says on the LCA within 7 days as long as the form is filled out correctly; (2) the DoL is prohibited from reviewing LCAs after approval; (3) the DoL is prohibited from acting on information about the LCA obtained during the visa petition process. The entire LCA system is a needless papershuffling exercise (see inspector general reports) that only ensure the employer can get away with whateer it wants.
Another doozy:
"Employers are prohibited from using the H-1B program to replace U.S. workers during labor disputes or to exploit foreign workers by offering substandard wages. "
When there is no labor dispute (and H1B is rarely used in unionized occupations) employers can replace U.S workers with H-1B workers at will.
"The H-1B program has been criticized for potentially subsidizing businesses, creating conditions likened to modern indentured servitude, institutionalizing discrimination against older workers, and suppressing wages within the technology sector. "
And criticized mostly for the direct displacement of U.S. workers. The article jumps through hoops to avoid this issue.
This historical section omits any mention of the H-2 visa and the administrative abuse that was classifying worker as H-1 rather than the corect H-2.
This entire article needs to be scrapped and rewritten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.88.156.66 (talk) 04:17, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- As previous posts have mentioned, this article is a disaster of inaccuracy. An obvious example is that it claims there is a $60,000 minimum H-1B salary. There is no such minimum salary for H-1B. Yes, that claim appears repeatedly in print and even Google displays that disinformation when you search for H-1B. Yet it is a complete myth. ~2025-38683-60 (talk) 16:05, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
Extensive interpretation of Foreign Affairs Manual
[edit]In #Travel, there's basically a whole section of interpretation of the Foreign Affairs Manual which I don't think follows Wikipedia policies and guidelines. We aren't supposed to pick out specific primary documents for focus like this. Up to the sentence in the second paragraph that ends "USCIS then either confirms the petition is valid as initially approved, or definitively revokes it", the section depends exclusively on FAM for four citations and the travel.state.gov website. The section needs more secondary sources telling us that this topic is suitable for inclusion. Then, after that, the amount of interpretation should be minimal in order to not run afoul of WP:HOWTO or WP:SYNTH. I've discussed this with another editor on my talkpage and think the conversation should continue here. ☆ Bri (talk) 19:38, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
Re: Copyediting
[edit]So, this article appears to more than just copy editing. For example, example it has two top level headings called "History." The second of the two is excessively long and contains no significant information that is not already addressed earlier in the article. I propose that it is deleted. - Hey, @TheYearbookTeacher! We don't delete articles for being poorly written. We fix them. If you can help fix this article, please do! Valereee (talk) 12:00, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I didn't mean delete the article. I was talking about the article having two top level headings with exactly the same name. That's what I was suggesting being deleted. But, indeed, since it's been a while and I haven't heard any objections, I will make the revisions I had planned. :) TheYearbookTeacher (talk) 04:07, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- Forgot to tag you. Sorry for the confusion @Valereee! TheYearbookTeacher (talk) 04:07, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
- No worries! Yes, definitely delete anything that's repetitive! Valereee (talk) 13:25, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
