Article photo consensus

I want a vote & consensus on the photo for the article. While the Option A is official, and higher resolution, I believe, with the image being nearly 8 years old, as well as the changes in the look of Sullivan's appearance, especially with his hair going white, that the portrait no longer accurately represents Sullivan, thus I wish to replace it with Option B, which I believe would be better, especially for the purpose of an encyclopaedia. I also believe that a later photo is better for a sitting, serving Senator.

Change consensus; image vote

I want a vote & consensus on the photo for the article. Personally prefer keeping Option A, aside from the hair going white, it doesn't look too different. I probably wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been pointed out. Option D as a close second because B looks oddly stretched towards the right. SuperWIKI (talk) 20:23, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support. I think the title was useful when the Anchorage mayor was prominent, but it's not really essential now. It is pretty likely this Dan Sullivan will be a senator for around 20 years, given he will probably be re-elected next year. Oppose. I don't think he quite meets the long-term significance requirement of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Furthermore, the overlap of having two Alaska politicians of this name means the title has a higher-than-usual likelihood of leading readers astray, despite the {{Template:Distinguish}} up top. I just want to minimize the chances of people thinking they're the same person, and the current title helps with that. Believing they're the same person is a very normal assumption to make! Another Image Consensus vote

Now I like to change the image to something more modern, as the official portrait is getting more and more out of date as it's now 10 years out of date. So I have you my options

I vote Option C; again, many people are agreeing we need to change this, but some people are being steadfast that we should keep an over decade old portrait. Sullivan's hair color has changed, but it also seems he's gained a little weight (no offense Senator Sullivan); he just doesnt look the same. I'm not saying he's lost an eye and has new vampire teeth and has grown a third ear on his forehead; but it's clear he's aged; I don't get why we insist on keeping the same old portraits; until 2022 we had a portrait from 2009 for Michael Bennet; come on. I'm not saying update it every week with the newest portrait; but an update less than once a decade makes sense, surely.... I get how important consensus is, sure, and it shouldnt be something we bicker over since then it's useless if consensus is reached then one person rips it up a week latter, I get there's a potential slippery slope, but come on. Multiple people have made clear now they want this changed. Numerous people wanting to change it after a decade sounds like a valid reason to reconsider consensus again. And if people then go "Nah, we're keepin' the decade old portrait anyways", then who can complain for another decade?
