This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (center, color, defense, realize, traveled) and some terms may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Alternate names

@Uriel1022, from where does "Ch'ong-ch'in" come from or derive? I don't see it attested anywhere in the article. And I fear three romanizations of the same name becomes too many for such a prominent place in the article. Remsense诉 14:46, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Remsense, they are romanizations from Western Mandarin, or the Spoken Language of Western China (see 重 ch'ong & 慶 ch'in). It's a Sichuanese dictionary, quite old (published in 1900). But if you know one thing or two about Sichuan, then you understand there is no regulation of the local language, which basically makes Western Mandarin the only standard resource to draw on. On a second thought I feel it's not appropriate to display "Ch'ong-ch'in" on the infobox, but I suggest leaving it under "Notes" to serve as an indication of a more proper pronunciation of the name according to the local language. Of course! I am not sure the best way to handle this generally, as you said there is an enormous amount of fluidity both phonetically and orthographically: we don't want to exclude known forms, but I would worry about myself accidentally holding up one as an academic exercise despite it not being in use on the ground (of course I know not at all whether that would be the case here, you would far better than I) Remsense诉 16:33, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Chongqing being used in external chinese propaganda

Chongqing is being used in external Chinese propaganda, often using the municipality population number (over 32 million) to make it appear bigger than the actual population of the built up area (over 9 million), showing Liziba station (highlighting the fact that the station is inside a apartment building, with trains riding to the inside of the building) and Kuixing Building (highlighting the fact that what appears to be a small city square, is actually on the 22nd floor of the building) as a example of unqiue architecture, therefore why not include information about Chonqing being used in external chinese propaganda on this article or in wikipedia? it dosen't need to be like this text, but what i said is what is done in chinese external propaganda shwoing chongqing 109.81.89.240 (talk) 18:13, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As was already made clear, you're being asked to provide a source that verifies each of the claims present in the addition you want to make to the article, at a minimum. For better discussion I suggest you order these like:

It is hard for other to read a mangle of links.

Second please cross reference WP:RSP and WP:RSN and place the sources that have consensus as reliable on top.

Assuming there are reliable sources in this list, add claims that are well supported by the reliable sources to the article with a reference like ^[1]

The Chinamediaproject's coverage of the creation of ichongqing is almost certianly relevant. Chonqing application of Telling China's stories well is worth mentioning in the article.
