En-suey (Chinese: 銀穗; Tongyong Pinyin: Yínsuèi; Tâi-lô: Gîn-suī) is a Taiwanese fashion company specializing in women's apparel. It is one of Taiwan's established domestic clothing groups and operates multiple fashion brands and retail outlets. In response to changing consumer habits, increased competition from international fashion retailers, and the growth of e-commerce, the company has diversified its business activities beyond clothing retail and undertaken digital transformation initiatives.[1]
The company also participates in charitable and community initiatives through partnerships with organizations such as the Eden Social Welfare Foundation and the Garden of Hope Foundation. These activities have included clothing donation campaigns, volunteer programs, and fundraising projects conducted through the group's retail brands.[2]
History
[edit]En-suey was founded in Taiwan in 1980 as a women's fashion business and expanded alongside the growth of the country's department store retail sector. Over time, it developed a portfolio of clothing brands aimed primarily at the women's fashion market and became one of Taiwan's better-known domestic apparel companies.
During the 2010s, Taiwan's clothing industry faced increasing competition from fast fashion retailers, online shopping platforms, and changing consumer preferences. As a result, En-suey began a period of corporate transformation under its second-generation leadership. Academic studies have described the company's strategy as emphasizing organizational flexibility, data-driven decision-making, digitalization, and talent development in order to adapt to changes in the retail environment. Research has also noted that these measures contributed to revenue growth following the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthened the company's long-term competitiveness.[1]
In addition to its fashion business, En-suey expanded into the food and beverage industry. The group established several restaurant and café brands, including Woosa Pancake, and in 2019 launched Dan Dan Shun (旦旦旬), a dumpling restaurant brand whose first outlet opened at Qsquare in Taipei.[3][4][5]
In 2023, the company introduced the fashion brand apercu. The brand's name is derived from the French word for "insight" and was conceived as both a clothing label and a platform for collaborations with Taiwanese designers. The launch formed part of the group's broader efforts to support original design and expand its brand portfolio.[6]
