No, unfortunately my parents don’t have any savings for me. The money I have saved from working myself will still not cover my remainder. I did pick a meal plan though, so I am considering changing it

Advice on affording college

Hi everyone, I am a rising freshman at UGA and I have been looking at my financial aid offer and I am the slightest bit worried about financing college. I have received ~ $7500 in external scholarships as well as the Pell Grant and HOPE Scholarship, but I still don’t think my family can afford to send me to school. If you guys can share any advice about finding more scholarships and/or getting more financial aid from the school, please let me know. I want to avoid taking out a loan completely, but also don’t want finances to completely deter me from pursuing higher education.

I arrived at 9:30, and I honestly felt like it was too early. Come closer to 10AM. If you want to grab lunch, talk to people at the campus resource fair, or visit the bookstore though, come 9:00-9:30. Check-in is really quick and you can bring snacks but they provide so many snacks for free throughout orientation :)

You’ll meet with an advisor before you actually register for classes and they’re actually soooo helpful. They give you lots of options and ideas of how you should go about with registration. Definitely draft up some questions to ask your advisor before orientation if you are feeling uneasy about anything, as they are super knowledgeable.
