Jasper’s new skatepark is a reminder of what Alberta communities can do

Jasper’s new skatepark is a reminder of what Alberta communities can do

Here’s a story of a community determined to build something together: https://youtu.be/w132nDwHmYE?si=uKS3jWD0SY6iinrJ

The Jasper Skate Park committee was so close to finishing their dream skatepark when the 2024 Jasper wildfires changed everything. The fires brought progress to a stop and hit the community hard but they didn’t stop the people behind the project. With incredible determination and resilience, the team kept pushing forward. The $50,000 Built Together grant helped get the project across the finish line.

Know of a community project that will make a lot of difference and could do with a little support? The Built Together grant program is accepting applications until September 17. Visit ab.bluecross.ca/builttogether

Imagine what $50K could do for your community.

Alberta Blue Cross’s 2026 Built Together grant program is now open, and we’re looking to support 5 active living projects across Alberta.

Whether it’s a skate park, playground, outdoor gym, sports court or another community space, the goal is to help create places that encourage connection, movement and community pride.

If your school, organization or community group has a project idea, we’d love to hear about it.

Anyone else feel like they’re juggling everything right now?

Work. Family. Caregiving. Life. And still trying to take care of yourself.

That load is real. And it’s okay to need a little support carrying it.

We put together this article with practical strategies from women who understand that balance. It covers everything from everyday coping tools to mental health supports and benefits you may already have access to.

Sharing in case it helps someone here: Mental health strategies for working women | Alberta Blue Cross®

Mental health strategies (that actually feel doable)

A lot of women are balancing work, family responsibilities and everything in between. It can feel like a lot.

This article breaks down practical, realistic ways to support mental wellbeing at work.

It talks about:

* Recognizing early signs of burnout

* Setting boundaries at work

* Navigating conversations with your employer

* Using supports like extended health benefits, therapy or virtual care

It also touches on caregiving pressures (including the “sandwich generation”) and how workplaces are starting to adapt.

We hope it’s genuinely helpful. It’s not just generic advice, but something that reflects real experiences and offers useful next steps. Check it out here: Mental health strategies for working women | Alberta Blue Cross®

Thanks for sharing this perspective. There is definitely growing conversation around conditions like Endometriosis and Adenomyosis, and the need for more research and innovation in women’s health overall.

Migraine care is also an important workplace health topic, and access to effective treatment continues to be an important discussion.
