change the monitor refreshrate to whatever the highest your laptop display supports, even when unplugged. I think on AC you have enable overdrive for display when unplugged, or you could use ghelper as it is much lighter than AC.

try and disable cpu boost in ghelper and see if that will lower the temps of the cpu, though it will be running on base max speed, but it'll be running cooler.
