big tech companies have the technology to limit harm to their users. they are aware of what needs to be done. but they refuse to do it. so regulations must be put in place. this is market failure. this is the difference between legal and ethical behaviour. when something is unethical for long enough eventually it becomes illegal. our biggest problem however, is the ongoing concentration of wealth and power into fewer and fewer individuals. imbalances of power tends towards abusive outcomes to the least empowered.

I don't own a newer EV, sometimes I plug in at the local shopping centre when I've run down the battery and I want a quicker charge than I can do at home. I can grab some groceries etc. whereas the servo near me has little to offer so I wouldn't want to go there. Chargers where people are shopping or eating makes more sense to me than at random servos in the suburbs. Of course roadhouses on highways make sense, not disputing that.
I did not say anything about others doing a better job. Yes Pauline would be a disaster and hopefully enough people know that to stop her gaining power, her xenophobic stance would surely ruin many international relationships. However, I stand by my assertion that our gas resources, especially when Qatar was attacked gave us considerable leverage, it was not just due to diplomatic skill, South East Asia gets a lot of oil from ME and they were even rationing in their own countries, fact is. Without gas Singapore and Japan are crippled.
