lost my voice after a demonstration
lost my voice after a demonstration

Hi everyone. I never had any problem with my voice before. Last week, I did something stupid: I spoke loud for hours long in front of a sound system, so I really pushed my voice and I heard it break the same day. I thought it was nothing so I went on with my day, smoking and laughing. I also kept talking a lot for two days after the event. It's been a full week and my voice hans't improved. I don't speak anymore, I don't smoke, but it's still very broken. Im seeing a specialist tomorrow. Any experience with this ? It doesn't hurt but I also started caughing, probably because of the irritation. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I've already asked three different speech therapists about this, and none of them had ever encountered this exact presentation before.

I have a very small vocal cord nodule and a slight hourglass-shaped glottic closure in the higher pitches. Despite the nodule being very small, I experience daily symptoms in my speaking and singing voice, mainly a sensation of mucus that I constantly want to clear, as if a thin layer sometimes comes in front of the voice. I also experience throat dryness and a feeling of vocal fatigue that develops quickly.

Has anyone experienced something similar, found an explanation for it, or been able to resolve these symptoms?
