It seems that whenever I very politely say I would prefer to scan my boarding pass instead of having my face scanned at the gate, the gate agents seem to take it personally. Today I was flying out of the country and said I prefer to use my boarding pass and the GA immediately yelled that he needed to see my passport. Because I knew the drill I had that and a printed boarding pass ready and immediately handed it to him. He then demanded again in an elevated voice that I step away from the scanner. I took a step back and he said again im an elevated voice I said I need you to move away! So I literally went back to the stansions. I did then say I don't know why saying I don't want an optional scan has me being treated like I have committed some offense. And there is no reason to be rude. That was the only other thing I said. I guess I could just get scanned but it is not like it is TSA or CBP. But absolutely no reason for the GA to come at me like that.
