Im not sure where the sound came from, it just like come from everywhere , i just check the tyre last night it wear normally for the front new tyre, the back tyre got a bit of heel toe wear but the noise started a week ago. Im not an aggressive driver.
We started having issues with the brake system in our 2012 Prius. Not sure of the exact mileage off the top of my head but it’s in the 150k+ range. Our local mechanic said we need a new master brake cylinder and a brake booster pump assembly. He quoted $3250 for parts and labor but it would be around $5500 to finance it via Affirm because we don’t have any way to pay for it right now.
I could really use some wisdom on whether it’s worth trying to keep it running or if we should take that money and try to finance a used car (which we also can’t afford). It would take a few years for us to pay off the repair and I’m afraid we would run into new issues in that time.
Report came back mostly clean on this 2024 manual transmission except two line items. I’d appreciate any feedback from the group:
-
OIL FILTER HOUSING WET / NO ACTIVE LEAK
-
CLEAN DME REPORT - ONE TROUBLE CODE STORED IN DME, LAST TIME CLEARED 2717 MILES AGO. NO ENGINE LIGHT AT THIS MOMENT.
I live across the country so I’m trying to gauge if these are serious issues before finalizing the offer and flying to buy it. The inspection shop couldn’t give me any more information on the DME and said “not to worry” about the wet oil filter housing, but I wanted to ask the group. The trouble code was cleared by Porsche at the last service and I believe the seller hasn’t abused the car. I don’t know what the “trouble code” may have been though. It is a private seller, not CPO.
