Do not flood the subreddit with posts from multiple accounts, posts about goldfish crackers, etc.

Re-homing and for sale posts are allowed from hobbyists, if you are vendor please message the mods first.

No Fish Abuse

Images of deliberate animal abuse or cruelty will result in a permanent ban. This includes images and videos showing goldfish being fed to other predatory species as well as goldfish placed in unnatural setups for the sake of trolling i.e. goldfish in blenders.

Be Respectful

If you think the words you are about to say will offend and hurt others, either opt to rephrase your words or don't say it at all.

No hate speech, this includes targeting others over their disabilities, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or religious background. No politics.

No Harassment

Do not harass users whose opinions or set-ups you disagree with, especially over private messages and if the user is a minor. This behaviour will not be a tolerated and users engaging in it will be banned from this community.

AI Spam

No comments or posts generated solely by AI. No AI images or AI videos that have not undergone some creative human alteration. Want to post art of your goldfish? Great! Use AI as a reference? That's fine. But this sub encourages human-made arts and crafts. Likewise for comments and post. Using AI to translate or help you write a post is ok, but comments entirely generated by AI will be removed.

NSFW/Sick Fish Help Tag

Please use the Sick Fish Help/NSFW-Dead Fish flair or NSFW tag for dead, dying or severely sick fish. Posting images of dead fish for diagnostic purposes is ok but use the Sick Fish Help/NSFW flair/tag. If doing memorial posts, likewise use the NSFW tag if featuring images of deceased fish. UK users are exempt from this rule owing to age verification laws.

Give Constructive And Legal Advice Only

We encourage helpful, respectful, and constructive advice. Misleading, inaccurate and deliberately unhelpful or hostile advice will be removed. Furthermore, posts or comments suggesting illegal or harmful actions are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: Stealing or taking goldfish without permission, releasing goldfish into local ponds, lakes, or rivers as well as any activity that could harm wildlife, ecosystems or violate local laws.

Posts deemed low effort and designed to troll and otherwise provoke this community will be removed, i.e. taking an image of poor goldfish husbandry off the internet and posting it to get a reaction. Goldfish and aquarium-related memes are welcome, as long as they follow all other rules and don’t overwhelm the subreddit.

Light off-topic chat (like pets, hobbies, or other friendly interests) is welcome as long as it’s kind and respectful.
