Is Boise’s homeless problem getting worse?
Is Boise’s homeless problem getting worse?
Discussion

I am very sympathetic to homeless people / unhoused but has anyone else noticed that there are more homeless and mentally challenged around town lately?

Ann Morrison and Kathryn Albertson seem to have a persistent issue. I have been encountered homeless folks with off leash dogs in the bushes at Kathryn Albertsons.

I’ve also been going to the Veteran’s Park Albertsons and The North End one - I’ve noticed more people living in their cars around there. It actually reminded me very vaguely of as a college student in Seattle at UW.

It’s not just simply people on hard times - it’s people who are a bit more aggressive or struggling mentally clearly - which I am of course sympathetic to but as a female sometimes walking alone in these parks or going tot here stores I feel uncomfortable (I know that’s wrong and I try not to).

I go to Fairview park pretty frequently in the West End (where we live) and saw people laying in the grass with all their stuff trashed or people who look like they may be struggling with a crisis or addiction.

A neighbor mentioned not feeling as safe in the area anymore walking with her kids to the park - she said her husband and her are thinking about going to Eagle because she can’t take her kids out anymore and that it is less “trashy” there. I don’t think this area is trashy at all and I feel torn because I understand there is very little to be scared of with the homeless population but if you have children you may be more cautious going to a park.

Anyone else notice the homeless issue getting worse?
