Support request: Enciclopedia Católica Wikitólica ID
[edit]I have proposed a new external identifier property for Enciclopedia Católica Wikitólica (Wikitólica (Q138600930)), a Spanish-language Catholic encyclopedia with 4,000+ articles, CC BY-SA 4.0 license, Wikipedia article, and Zenodo dataset. Your feedback and support would be appreciated: Property proposal Enciclopedia Católica Wikitólica IDXeNivalys (talk) 07:02, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
July 2026 SSPX Consecrations
[edit]While any article about this possibility as things presently stands runs afoul of WP:FUTURE, I think if a candidate or location for the consecrations is announced, this would make the possibility substantive enough to require an article.
I'm curious as to the thoughts of others on this matter.

- I don't think is can be standalone until it happens. Otherwise, just a section of the SSPX main article. ~Darth StabroTalk • Contribs 18:33, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- I would argue that once the location and individuals to be consecrated are announced, you likely have enough to be notable. Especially if an official Vatican statement comes out, then it is clearly notable and you avoid WP:FUTURE by talking about the announcements, which are then past.>> M.P.Schneider,LC (parlemus • feci) 03:14, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Request on repeal on nonsense RfC about naming of dioceses
[edit]Hello, I would like to request repeal of resolution of RfC on naming of Roman Catholic Dioceses. Dioceses shall be named with Roman Catholic prefix. This massive renaming led to great misleading of readers in plenty of cases. Eastern Orthodox Dioceses are also Dioceses, that were in modern times renamed to Eparchies–Eparchy in conflict with Diocese around the world if identical place. Some expert robotically renamed all dioceses which led to that current naming is even with conflict with this previous RfC Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Catholicism/Archive_2025#RfC_on_dropping_preemptive_disambiguation. Diocese of Plzeň, České Budějovice etc. is also diocese of Plzeň, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, Brno, of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Diocese of Prague is also historical name of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Prague while there exist also Diocese of Prague in Czechoslovak Hussite Church and also nominal Archdiocese of Prague of the Old Catholic Church that doesnt have article. This is in many cases around the world. Thank you. ThecentreCZ (talk) 04:37, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- I agree it also confuses people in Anglican areas. Secretlondon (talk) 10:34, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- There are several dioceses which have the same name for Catholics and Anglicans. So yes, we need "Roman Catholic" as a prefix in some cases. But there are vast geographical areas where the word "diocese" can only be understood in one way, namely as a Catholic unit. So in those cases, we do not need the preemptive clarification, using "Roman Catholic" in theses cases would just be clutter. -- Melchior2006 (talk) 11:13, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- Even in Anglican areas the RfC has been used to remove RC from diocese names, causing confusion. Secretlondon (talk) 11:18, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Bishops as prelates
[edit]Many articles about bishops describe them as "prelates". The lead for Richard Williamson (bishop) described him as a "prelate," but not as a "bishop" until I recently edited it. I would suggest that this word is generally not necessary in article leads, which should be more specific and describe bishops, abbots, priests, etc. and sometimes specific titles for honorary prelates. The lead is supposed to indicate what the article is about and an unmodified "prelate" isn't helpful, with most people probably not even knowing what that means and even for those of us who do, it's too generic and specificity should be prefered. Jahaza (talk) 14:51, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Similarly I just changed Paul J. Swain. Jahaza (talk) 14:55, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Serious sourcing issues with an article The Entity
[edit]Hello, I ran across The Entity (intelligence service) and I noticed that whole article relies on a questionable source, Eric Frattini. The second source that supports most of the article Colonna Vilasi, Antonella, assumes that Frattini is a reliable source. To me it seems uncertain whether the even the name of the intelligence service is correct. ~2026-24576-69 (talk) 17:36, 22 April 2026 (UTC)

How to classify Catholic bishops who led militant forces?
[edit]Fabrizio Ruffo led the Sanfedisti who clearly held military-political aims and his Wiki page, in the section "Return to the Holy See and role in the Kingdom of Naples", indicates that he possessed some degree of military authority. The article on "Sanfedismo" itself talked about the composition of the force. There's also Thaddeus Anselmus Lê Hữu Từ who led the anti-Việt Minh "Catholic Self-Defense Force" at Bùi Chu - Phát Diệm during the First Indochina War. Should they also be classified as military commanders given the nature of their tasks? Bloody-pin (talk) 15:24, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi, the Society of Saint Pius X is in the news due to the recent controversies and possible soon-to-be excommunication of the Society. It has a number of issues raised by other editors that would benefit from attention by those with expertise in the topic area. — ♠ Ixtal ( T / C ) ⁂ Non nobis solum ♠ 16:04, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
