You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/CleoCat16. Thank you. Your question

Your question wasn't silly, and the answer is at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking#Intuitiveness. WhatamIdoing (talk) 21:07, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

BDU / Twill - Hot Weather Uniform

[edit]

According to many sources, the definition of a weave that is diagonal and not a vertical/horizonal or silk-like weave, is drill/twill.

This is like reversing an edit where someone says that a banana is yellow, based on looking at it. Except there are literally only three types of weaves.

Why did you erase and censor every single mention of the Hot Weather Uniform, the replacements, and the NyCo Poplin weave? There was sources, there was tags, there was retailers, and you erased all of that.

MoreDarkAges (talk) 05:29, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@MoreDarkAges:
While we can say that a banana is yellow simply because we look at it, it is much less the case for the weave of a clothing item. Determining the weave from an image would be original research because it is ultimately what we have concluded from the image and not what reliable sources have, thus making it unverifiable.
To answer your question on why I removed the mentions earlier, it was simply because I found it to be too much work to replace, which I admit was a mistake and a violation of the Wikipedia editing policy. I will restore the content as soon as I can so long as there is reliable sources to back it up. I should note that the article is undergoing a rewrite and I have recruited help from WikiProject Military History. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention, and I apologize for the mistake.

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Comments like this border on harassment, whether or not that was your intention. (See generally WP:5P4 and foundation:UCoC § 2.1 – Mutual respect.) Please focus on building an encyclopedia. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 19:48, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't think that was remotely close to harassment when I wrote it. I can only assume it was considering I got this warning, and I'm sorry. I do not have anything against LGBTQ or any of the sort, I interpreted the username as a transgressive joke, I thought maybe to test what would be allowed on Wikipedia. I'm not sure if this is a formal warning from the community or not as I didn't pay attention to my inbox since I posted it until now. Regardless, I apologize for the disruption I caused here.
