Draft for Coup (board game)

[edit]

Thanks for your creation of the draft! Though, beware of some unreliable sources, have a look at here for a guide on which refs are reliable! Many thanks! VickKiang (talk) 22:47, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing! I wasn't sure which were considered reliable or reputable so I will definitely reference this sources list in the future :D Salem Ander (talk) 22:53, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not an Article for creation reviewer, I just had a quick look. A more experienced editor will probably approve or decline this draft for the mainspace. VickKiang (talk) 23:19, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nevertheless, you really helped with the sources so thank you! Salem Ander (talk) 03:47, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AfC notification: Draft:Full Metal Planète has a new comment

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Full Metal Planète. Thanks! VickKiang (talk) 20:51, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you are referring to the review in Games International Magazine, the question of length question can probably be answered by @BOZ as they were the one who found that source. As for the sources you provided, thank you so much and I will be sure to put those on the page! :D Salem Ander (talk) 21:05, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's 1 1/2 pages long: [1] BOZ (talk) 04:27, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New and restored articles

[edit]

Hey there! We have met before while you worked on drafts, but I am reaching out to say hi. :) I'm glad that you are working on building up new articles for board and table games, and also working on other existing drafts to help get them into article space. A good place to keep an eye on would be Category:Draft-Class board and table game articles if you're looking for more active drafts to work on. A far more daunting task (but one that is, in my opinion, absolutely worthwhile) would be to see if any of the games at User:BOZ/Games deletions can be restored from redirection or deletion - if you see anything there that you feel would be worth spending your time working on, let me know. :) BOZ (talk) 15:06, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for reaching out :) I'm relatively new to Wikipedia so I'm a little shy to talk to people on here. I've been looking at the Draft Category for BTG (which is how I found your drafts!) but I haven't seen your games deletions page so I'll certainly check it out! If I see one I want spend my time on, does the page need to be restored or do I just start a new article? How do deleted/redirected articles work? Salem Ander (talk) 18:07, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No need to be shy, but as you gain confidence I'm sure it will come more naturally. There are many games listed on my deletion page, so take a deep breath before looking! :) If you see anything there worth your time, let me know. If it was simply redirected then I will restore it for you or move it to draft space. If it was deleted fully, then I will help you get it restored so it can be worked on. Just let me know! I personally feel if someone else took the time to at least attempt an article, it's better to honor that and improve it rather than start over (unless the original article was so thoroughly bad that it can't be improved at all), but that's my opinion. BOZ (talk) 19:48, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for touching up Isolation (board game), my appreciated. :) I was wondering if you had anything you could do to improve articles like London Cabbie, Quantum, Image, or Oh-Wah-Ree? BOZ (talk) 20:15, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I can take a look and see. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find any additional sources, but I can add infoboxes and fix reference errors. Salem Ander (talk) 01:16, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Even that would be great. :) BOZ (talk) 14:02, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How about Sleuth? Also there are comments on the Hexagames draft talk page for you. :) BOZ (talk) 01:17, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome! Thank you! :D Salem Ander (talk) 07:07, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Got Lexicon (cardgame) restored as well. :) BOZ (talk) 01:34, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And, I stated one on one of my personal favorites, Stocks & Bonds. :) BOZ (talk) 00:33, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more, and that's probably it for now, I think, a very old game with some historic significance: L'Attaque. BOZ (talk) 17:12, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I started The Stock Market Game, Dark December (game), and The Godfather Game today. :) BOZ (talk) 19:11, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of railroad games today, I brought back 1835 (board game) from a redirect, and I started Eurorails from an existing redirect. :) BOZ (talk) 18:26, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mean to keep piling these on, but I keep finding good reviews. :) I started Sirius (game) and Gimel (game) today. BOZ (talk) 22:27, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Two more yesterday, should be the last board game creations from me this week: Tri-nim and Touch and Go (game). Have you thought about looking into DYK? When you make a big expansion to an article (potential examples from above include Image, Rift Trooper, Stocks & Bonds, and Dark December, and I'm sure some of your own original creations as well) you have the potential to get some recognition for your work and get the article on the main page of Wikipedia for a day. :) This was done recently with Lexicon (mentioned above) and it should be featured in DYK in the near future. It's up to you if you have the interest, but you certainly have the ability from what I've seen. BOZ (talk) 15:38, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! :) I didn't realize that's how the DYK worked. I will definitely look into that for the future. Salem Ander (talk) 19:27, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I started Space Lines today, just one for a change. :) BOZ (talk) 17:32, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more for now, Ratrace (game). BOZ (talk) 18:24, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more for this weekend, Organized Crime (game). BOZ (talk) 01:41, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more to get started this week: Froop! BOZ (talk) 19:20, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I missed Gregory Horror Show (board game) the other day, so I started that one today. BOZ (talk) 17:47, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I started Noble Armada today - I slowed down a bit on new articles because lately I haven't been going through as many magazines that overlapped with each other! :) BOZ (talk) 22:13, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I brought back award-winner Colonial Diplomacy today! BOZ (talk) 19:28, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more today, Fortune (game). BOZ (talk) 15:53, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I started Starship Troopers: Prepare for Battle! today from an existing redirect. :) BOZ (talk) 15:53, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I started award winner Deadlands: The Great Rail Wars today. :) BOZ (talk) 15:02, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Two more from me today: Lionheart (board game) and Successors (board game). :) BOZ (talk) 01:49, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I started Marvel Super Dice today. :) BOZ (talk) 17:34, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back on Games magazine, they did a lot of board and tabletop games so I might have a lot more to contribute in that area! I started Blockword, Shogun (1976 board game), and Track (game) today. :) BOZ (talk) 18:10, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I started Kangaroo: The Jumping Game and Balance of Power (board game) yesterday. :) BOZ (talk) 11:06, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I started The Generals (game), and also created Mhing from an existing redirect. :) BOZ (talk) 03:22, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And today I started Domain (game), and that should be it for this week. It should be a little slower going through the other 63 issues that I have access to; the above that I did this week was pretty much catch-up. BOZ (talk) 18:01, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Two more today, but I'm still working on it: Pentantastar and Showbiz (game). BOZ (talk) 23:53, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more for now, I restored the redirected Ghosts (board game), but may have more in the coming week. :) BOZ (talk) 23:55, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more today: Doorways to Horror. BOZ (talk) 18:25, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm getting towards the end of this magazine. :) I restored Outburst (game) from a redirect, and started two new articles for Ravensburger games: Dorada (game) and Flying Carpet (game). BOZ (talk) 21:45, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One more today: Intuition (game)*. BOZ (talk) 21:44, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And, I finished this magazine with a bang by starting Tyranno Ex*. :) I will likely slow down a lot with creation of new tabletop game articles, or at least what I do next should be easier to find other sources for so I won't barrage you with new creations. Black Gate (magazine) is my next source, founded at the start of this century, and I will start on that next week. I will mostly be going through its (currently) 921 posts about Games, starting with the oldest ones from 2008 (the first one covering the death of Gary Gygax. There is a lot of tabletop RPG and video games stuff in there too, and not all of those articles are actual reviews, so we'll see how many board/card/etc articles I get to creating, but the bright side on these is that internet coverage of those games should be more readily available than these 30-50 year old games I've been covering for a while. :) BOZ (talk) 01:43, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! Thank you! I've been busy IRL the past month or so, so I've been very slow with fixing up articles. I should hopefully have more time soon :) Salem Ander (talk) 01:50, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You do great work, it's worth waiting for! BOZ (talk) 02:38, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was able to successfully get Password (game) restored and built up today. :) BOZ (talk) 13:28, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:1989: Dawn of Freedom is at AFC if you have anything that can help it pass. :) BOZ (talk) 11:26, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I started Frostgrave today. :) BOZ (talk) 19:10, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Improving existing articles

[edit]

Hey, mind if I keep you busy for a little while? :) A few years ago I went through the entire run of The Space Gamer and added reviews to everything that got reviewed in the magazine (which, I will tell you, is hundreds of reviews) before going on and doing the same with other magazines (all of which had far fewer reviews). Anyhow, most of the articles have grown over time to include reviews from other publications, but some have yet to advance beyond that one review. Is there anything you can do to improve any of these? Even if that is just to find out that reviews exist and note them on the talk page as you did before. There are a lot so you can stop me at any time, including immediately.  ;) For starters, from the oldest days of the magazine, all of these were published in the mid to late 1970s: Star Probe, The War of the Worlds II, The Siege of Minas Tirith, Starguard!, Starship & Empire, Starship: The Game of Space Contact‎, Rift Trooper. Infobox, copyedit, additional sourcing, anything you can do would be appreciated. :) BOZ (talk) 17:55, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind at all! I'll see what I can do :) Salem Ander (talk) 18:38, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How about Cyborg (board game) if you get a chance? BOZ (talk) 21:13, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

We can always revisit Space Gamer at some future date - meanwhile, let's take a look at White Wolf Magazine. :) The first one I really got to is Talisman Dungeon (which I restored) from issue #9, then The Make My Day Card Game from issue #13, then Pizza Wars Imperium from #14, and that was it for the 1980s issues - the 1990s issues really kicked into high gear with their reviews sections! If you like you can also take a look and see what you can find for Rollout: The Game of the Risk-Takers from issue #13, which was deleted at AFD; this is the last archived version of that article: [2] and the game's BGG page: [3]. BOZ (talk) 15:48, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions

[edit]

High Society (card game) was created by a new user, but has been proposed for deletion. BOZ (talk) 07:10, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pirates of the Crimson Coast, Pirates of the Revolution, Pirates at Ocean's Edge, and Pirates of the Caribbean PocketModels have been proposed for merging into the main article; the question is, are any of them notable? BOZ (talk) 11:36, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To save time and trouble, just noting these were all merged or redirected, but there is a long long list of things to possibly bring back in the future one day. ;) BOZ (talk) 07:00, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See anything for German game Vector (game)? BOZ (talk) 12:28, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything :( I'll keep looking, but I don't think there will be much Salem Ander (talk) 17:14, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for taking a look! BOZ (talk) 21:30, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

See anything for Square Deal (game)? BOZ (talk) 07:35, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't find anything for Square Deal. Salem Ander (talk) 06:13, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How about anything for Ætherverse? BOZ (talk) 13:10, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How about for Quizimaze? BOZ (talk) 13:04, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do you see anything for Allegiance: War of Factions? BOZ (talk) 08:15, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For Allegiance: War of Factions I found this game preview from Scrye, this official rulebook, and this web archive to cite the Origins Award nomination claim! I'll keep poking around and see if I can find anything else. I wasn't able to find anything for Quizimaze or Ætherverse. Salem Ander (talk) 18:01, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Kings Cribbage? BOZ (talk) 12:50, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See anything for Pirates of the Caribbean Trading Card Game? BOZ (talk) 15:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Malifaux? BOZ (talk) 12:53, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how helpful these will be but I found a short Dicebreaker review and some longer semi-reliable reviews from Shut Up & Sit Down and TechRaptor which have both been mentioned on the BTG sources talk page. It seems like pretty active game so I might be able to find some more notable sources if I keep poking around Salem Ander (talk) 15:39, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK cool, that might be a start at something. :) BOZ (talk) 18:52, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Raw Deal (card game)? BOZ (talk) 11:32, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Princess and the Pea (board game)? The article on the publisher Winning Moves was deleted not long ago, in case you see anything for that as well. BOZ (talk) 07:53, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Five Crowns (card game) and Quiddler? BOZ (talk) 07:46, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For Quiddler I found this review (pg 88) by a sociology professor, this semi-reliable Reich-Der-Spiele review, this short review by the San Francisco Chronicle, and citations for some of the awards it received: 1999 Mensa Select, 1999 Dr. Toy, 1999 Silver Parent's Choice, 2004 ASTRA Hot Toys. Also, according to Funagain Games it was one of the 50 top-selling board games of 1999. That might be enough to keep the page? I'll keep looking for Five Crowns Salem Ander (talk) 17:58, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, good deal! I will de-PROD Quiddler and post your sources on the talk page. Let me know if you find anything for Five Crowns. BOZ (talk) 19:30, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Slight correction to this: the first review is not by the sociology professor of the same name, but the School Library Coordinator/Game Designer. Very sorry! I'm also going to add the sources into the Quiddler article when I have the time. I haven't been able to find much for Five Crowns so far: 2004 ASTRA Hot Toys, 2013 Family Choice Award (Junior version), semi-reliable Reich-Der-Spiele review, Good Game Guide review (possibly unreliable but I've cited before). I'll keep poking around but I'm not hopeful :( Salem Ander (talk) 07:12, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Two others if you can find anything for either of them: Set Cubed and Xactika. BOZ (talk) 08:38, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, two more from a different user if you see anything for either of them: Challenge The Yankees and Pecking Order (game). BOZ (talk) 12:52, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, one more. :\ PROD on Vegas Showdown from yet another user. I removed all the other PRODs in hopes that sources can come up before they go to AFD, but we'll see. BOZ (talk) 10:40, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you see anything more for Exploration (game) aside from the Games & Puzzles review? The user who started that article had copies of it moved to both Draft:Exploration (board game) and Draft:Exploration (game) for some reason... BOZ (talk) 05:54, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All I was able to find was this a brief Reich Der Spiele "review", but that doesn't help with notability. I took a look at that UK Museum of Games and Gaming citation and its seems pretty reliable (here's the author's Academia.edu page), so pushing it a bit more on the page could help? I'll keep looking but the name is so generic its hard to find much Salem Ander (talk) 21:44, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks for looking into that, I will ruminate some more on it. BOZ (talk) 02:09, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for French wargame AT-43? The article for the publisher and some of their other games are also up for deletion in case you can find anything. BOZ (talk) 17:45, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Plateau (game)? BOZ (talk) 18:00, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was only able to find (in order of reliability): a review in Abstract Games Magazine, a review from The Dice Tower (review begins at 31:06), and a review from Ken Tidwell's Game Cabinet. Here is also a link to the rules which are mentioned on the page but not cited. Salem Ander (talk) 19:41, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK that might help. Thanks for checking! BOZ (talk) 01:16, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you see anything more for Superchess? BOZ (talk) 14:18, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Do you see anything more for Free Parking? BOZ (talk) 11:39, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Do you see anything more for Battle Rage? BOZ (talk) 14:02, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring articles

[edit]

Hey there. :) This is a little project for whenever, if you feel like taking a look. I have four games that I had one review for each, but not more than that, so they were deleted at AFD. If you see more sources out there for any of these, maybe we can get them restored? Let me know! They are Flintloque (archived), Passage to Cathay (archived), Star Empires (card game) (archived), and Warlock (board game) (archived). BOZ (talk) 21:35, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds fun! I'll see if I can find anything, but no guarantees. Salem Ander (talk) 01:16, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I couldn't find anything for Passage to Cathay, Star Empires, or Warlock. For Flintloque did find this notable review by Armchair General and this short blurb in Mil Sims' 1997 catalogue archive (the latter is not really notable, but could be used alongside other sources). I'm going to keep looking around and see if I can find anything else Salem Ander (talk) 06:13, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey awesome, along with this Polish review that is probably enough to get Flintloque restored, but please do let me know if you see anything else so I can make a stronger case. :) I knew these would be more likely longshot cases, but even getting one of them back would be great. The others, maybe one day! BOZ (talk) 12:53, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How about Take the Train[4]? BOZ (talk) 10:07, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That one was deleted, but if you do find some sources it can always be challenged and restored, same as with any of the redlinks posted above. Speaking of which, if you do find more for Flintloque let me know, although I think I have enough to bring it back regardless. :) BOZ (talk) 18:00, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The review you found is actually for a different wargame called Flintlock by Richard Berg: [5] but I'm going to store that on my page of sources in case that can be made into an article one day. :) BOZ (talk) 13:52, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no! Very sorry. I'll keep looking! :( Salem Ander (talk) 14:17, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely no worries at all. :) The names were close so totally understandable, and the review you found could lead to a new article one day so I call that a positive. :) BOZ (talk) 14:45, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I got Flintloque restored. :) BOZ (talk) 01:39, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed up the article about the Mad Magazine board game and got it restored, but the Mad card game article was one deleted by PROD, then restored and moved to Draft:The Mad Magazine Card Game and eventually deleted again due to inactivity. I'll work on this one myself eventually, but if you see anything to build it up I say have a go at it. :) BOZ (talk) 16:46, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I built up and published The Mad Magazine Card Game a couple of months ago so I think that one should be fine. :) One more I've been looking at is All Things Zombie which was deleted by PROD in 2016. It was a 2005 Origins Award winner so I'm expecting there should be more coverage of it? BGG page: [6] It does not look like it was preserved on archive.org though, but if any other sources exist I'm sure that one is perfectly restorable. BOZ (talk) 19:45, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Right now Triology is a disambiguation page, but it doesn't seem to me like a redlink-only page really serves anyone. :) Many years ago it was an unsourced article:[7] so maybe there is a reason to think that sources exist for it? BGG page for that:[8] BOZ (talk) 19:38, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I recently got Hex Hex restored, do you see anything more for that one? BOZ (talk) 02:03, 27 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Drafts

[edit]

I've got six draft articles that users started about tabletop games that may or may not be salvageable? If you're back, would you mind taking a look starting with Draft:Sonar (game)? BOZ (talk) 13:11, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! It looks like Sonar was a reimplementation of Captain Sonar by the same designer and publisher. The page may be better off as an article for Captain Sonar since that game has a lot of notable sources, including but not limited to this Kotaku article, this Ars Technica article, and this brief Dicebreaker review. I can see the author of the Sonar draft tried to include both games in the article. Do you think it would be better to dig for sources on Sonar or just narrow the scope to Captain Sonar and migrate the name? I can assist with either but would like to get your opinion first Salem Ander (talk) 19:09, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I will have to find some time to look deeper into that, but thanks for pulling those up! :) BOZ (talk) 01:34, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I took a look and it does seem like those are pretty similar, maybe or maybe not the same game with just some tweaks? If you are comfortable with treating them under one article, especially given the draft creator included both in their draft, and want to work on it as a single article for both then I am fine with that as well. Once you have it ready to go, we can move the page to Captain Sonar. :) I feel like I have actually played this once before! If the game Sonar is distinct enough and we can find more sources for it, that can always be split out into a second article in the future but I don't see that we have to worry about it right now. BOZ (talk) 18:02, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, sounds good! I will do that :) Salem Ander (talk) 18:46, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about taking on Draft:High & Low - Card Game next? The draft actually has a lot less information than its BGG page: [9] BOZ (talk) 13:25, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I really can't find anything for this game other than a Kickstarter which has not reached its funding goal. Probably not yet notable enough unfortunately. Salem Ander (talk) 20:07, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, thanks for checking! :) BOZ (talk) 20:11, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about Draft:Oneupmanship (game) next? BOZ (talk) 20:31, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Other than what's on the page, all I could find was this interview with the author for a now out of print newspaper (pg. 1, 11) and a review by GeekDad which I think is considered marginally reliable. Most likely not enough to establish notability, but could be worth a try. Salem Ander (talk) 23:02, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure why not, give it a try. :) BOZ (talk) 23:35, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you're ready for another one, how about Draft:Tumbleweed (game)? BOZ (talk) 05:41, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't find anything new for Tumbleweed :( Salem Ander (talk) 06:26, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for checking! BOZ (talk) 11:35, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK so those were the four left over from last year. Those last three, if someone else works on them, then great, otherwise maybe some time in the future. Anyway, there were also two from this year, so firstly do you have anything for Draft:Ogallala (game)? BOZ (talk) 12:44, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I actually left a message on the talk page of the person who started the draft with some suggestions a while ago, but they have yet to add any of them in. Should I do it? Salem Ander (talk) 16:41, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, they did say a couple of weeks ago that they would "hope to get around to it at some point" but they haven't edited since then. I'd say go for it! :) BOZ (talk) 17:11, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
One more of these for now, although there are other drafts if you want to check those out too? For now, what do you see for Draft:Good Cop Bad Cop (card game)? BOZ (talk) 07:56, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Found a couple of things: short review in Paste Magazine, rules description for Dicebreaker's Youtube, review by Lautapeliopas, and rules description by GeekDad which are all reliable enough. Salem Ander (talk) 07:33, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, those should help. :) BOZ (talk) 11:34, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I added a couple of citations to Good Cop Bad Cop as I don't really have time to do more with it right now. Meanwhile, if you are up for more drafts I did find more! Draft:We're Not Really Strangers is days away from its being deleted after 6 months of inactivity, in case you can find anything else for that one. BOZ (talk) 13:27, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I will try to update We're Not Really Strangers quickly then. I think its notable enough, I found a lot of standard and tabloid news media about it (though not many board game sites interestingly) Salem Ander (talk) 16:53, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that sounds cool. :) BOZ (talk) 07:47, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I took a good look at the draft pages for tabletop games and I found a total of 8 more depending on how many of those you feel like looking at? First up would be Draft:Pocket Puffins which has about another month before it would be deleted, and the others all have plenty of time by comparison. :) This is its BGG page: [10] BOZ (talk) 00:27, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I can look at any of them! I like helping with the drafts. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything for Pocket Puffins. Salem Ander (talk) 04:50, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for checking. :) BOZ (talk) 05:27, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about Draft:Misfits Stacking Game? BOZ (talk) 06:19, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All I was able to find was an archive of this brief review in The Telegraph. Salem Ander (talk) 06:32, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks, I will put that to use. :) BOZ (talk) 15:00, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Draft:Inverted Dice? BOZ (talk) 16:47, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late reply! I don't see anything for Inverted Dice. Salem Ander (talk) 08:05, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for checking! BOZ (talk) 13:40, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Draft:High Frontier (board game)? BOZ (talk) 01:30, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found this marginally reliable article, this brief review by IGN Hungary, this review for Foreign Policy, this brief review by New Scientist, this brief review by BBC Sky at Night magazine, and this brief review in Gizmodo. That should probably be enough to get the draft published if it gets cleaned up a bit :) Salem Ander (talk) 06:50, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome and thank you. :) I will put some work into that in the near future. BOZ (talk) 10:14, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Draft:War in the Pacific (wargame)? BOZ (talk) 19:59, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Is this an article for the second edition? It's not clear on the page how this game is different from War in the Pacific. Salem Ander (talk) 05:55, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fair point! If there isn't enough material from sources to make a full article (even just a stub) for this edition, then we are better off leaving it as just a note on the existing article. BOZ (talk) 10:19, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Draft:Seti (1979 board game)? BOZ (talk) 11:21, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing I really found was that it won a Spiel des Jahres special award. This database is probably reliable for publishing details, and Spellenlab has a copy of the rules (in German) but I'm not sure how helpful either of those will be. There may also be a Spielbox article (6_88 p.45) according to their records, but they don't have a past issue archive so it's hard to check Salem Ander (talk) 06:56, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks, will see what I can do with that. :) BOZ (talk) 14:30, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about a much more recent game? :) Draft:Home team heroes game has a BGG page: [11] BOZ (talk) 14:40, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The only things I found were that they collaborated with Helsingin Palloseura and these results of Lautapeliopas' 2024 Finnish board game poll. Salem Ander (talk) 04:21, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK gotcha, will see what I can do with that. BOZ (talk) 10:15, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How about Draft:Sorcery: Contested Realm? This CCG has a BGG page: [12] BOZ (talk) 00:27, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Found a brief review in IGN Benelux, game was 6th most backed Kickstarter in 2022 (via Polygon), and a Screen Rant review. I think this one looks promising, but it needs a bit cleanup so I may do some work on it. Salem Ander (talk) 01:35, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK sounds great! :) Do whatever seems good with it. BOZ (talk) 04:55, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Great work, that one is much improved now. :) BOZ (talk) 14:44, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
When you're ready, the last of these drafts that I found for now was Draft:Hornochsen! - the BBG page gives it a different name: [13]. BOZ (talk) 17:08, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Found a few things: nominated for 2003 Nederlandse Spellenprijs, ICv2 article, source for coming 9th in Fairplay's 1999 Á la Carte awards, and game rules (in German) from Wolgang Kramer's website. I also found this brief mention in Wirecutter, but this might be for 6 nimmt! since that game is also sometimes known as Take 5. Salem Ander (talk) 06:24, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks, I will take a look and see! :) BOZ (talk) 12:44, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to work on more draft articles, Draft:Riftbound and Draft:Turnip28 were recently created. :) BOZ (talk) 17:49, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Draft:Villainous (board game) is one of my personal favorites, if you get a chance to work on it. :) BOZ (talk) 19:53, 24 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I've heard of this one! Shocked it doesn't already have a page, there are lots of good sources :) Salem Ander (talk) 17:31, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I have wondered for years why no one made this one. :D BOZ (talk) 23:12, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If you would like more draft articles to work on, I got formerly deleted articles Draft:Cheops (board game) and Draft:Obsession (board game) into draft space. :) BOZ (talk) 15:03, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Draft:Tapple was created if you want to take a look at that. :) Here is its BGG page for more info: [14] BOZ (talk) 19:42, 8 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Draft:Gravity Maze was moved to draft space if you have anything for that one. BOZ (talk) 21:31, 12 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

What's next?

[edit]

Obviously, you're going to work on any new articles you want to create as well as any existing articles you want to improve. I think you have been around long enough now that you know what you want to do and don't need any guidance. But, if you want to still partner up and see what is out there, I am happy to give suggestions. :) I have a lot of different projects that I work on, including restoring delete and redirected articles, improving stubs and poorly sourced articles, creating new articles that I found one source for; would working with me on any of those interest you or would you rather just work on your own? BOZ (talk) 16:11, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm always happy to work with you, and I'd love to continue with any projects you have! Salem Ander (talk) 16:33, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, sounds good. :) Well then, what I said above are my main projects: restoring deleted and redirected articles; improving stubs and poorly sourced articles; and creating new articles that I found one source for. Do any of those approaches in particular sound like something in which you would best want to involve your skills? BOZ (talk) 19:50, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing to work on anything! :) I've been enjoying trying to find sources for the BTG drafts lately Salem Ander (talk) 00:04, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. Well in that vein, I have lots of articles (100+) that I found one source for, and that is always a starting point to look for more and start an article. Is there a particular era that you would be interested in looking at? I've got games from before 1970, I've got 70s, 80s, 90s, and I've got some from this century too. Or maybe by a particular theme or style of game? Just so I can carve out a slice and you see what you want to look at.
-and/or-
Under the "New and restored articles" subsection above and the "Improving existing articles" subsection right below it, I have a few dozen articles listed up there, and you could take a look and see which of those you would like to build up? BOZ (talk) 00:38, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If there's any in particular you want to have me look at I can do that! I'll also take a look at that subsection. Preference-wise I am totally happy to work on any kind of board games, although I will admit I always struggle with the wargame pages since their rules are so complicated. As for century, I know I'm usually able to find more sources for games from 90s-present so I might be more effective with those, although I can certainly try with the earlier ones. Salem Ander (talk) 02:29, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, sounds good. :) I will look through my list of sources in the near future and start with more recent games and maybe work my way back to the 90s, and in the meantime if you see anything listed above that you can help out with then go for it! :) BOZ (talk) 05:38, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh right, one more thing I will get for you, a list of tabletop games articles I started from reviews in RPG magazines. Most of the content of course focused on RPGs, but all such magazines also focus a portion of their time on related-interest board and card games, so I will see what I can pull from there. White Wolf Magazine ran through the early 1990s so I will look at that first, and then Arcane Magazine (which I am still working on for the next few weeks) covered the mid-1990s. :) I will get you those lists as soon as possible! BOZ (talk) 05:55, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AfC notification: Draft:Hexagames has a new comment

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Hexagames. Thanks! S0091 (talk) 19:47, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Salem Ander, you may already be aware but just in case, you do not need to submit drafts through AfC. Given you are autoconfirmed, you can move your drafts to article space yourself (see MOVE). They will still be reviewed by WP:NPP and likely worst case scenario is if a reviewer believes it is not yet ready, they will just move it back draft where you address the issues and either move it back or submit it to AfC. Pinging @BOZ as I see you are working with them and am sure they can provide guidance as well. Of course you are welcome to continue submitting drafts for AfC review. S0091 (talk) 18:09, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, and thank you for the advice, I think Salem Ander is getting a good hang of how to build quality articles. :) BOZ (talk) 18:12, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I've been hesitant to move drafts myself without having them first confirmed by other users, but I've written enough articles at this point that I'm probably confident enough to start doing so :) Salem Ander (talk) 18:16, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ I think it is awesome you reached out to Salem Ander and now the two of you are teaming up. That is, after all, the spirit of Wikipedia and what has made it as successful as it is.
Salem - glad you are starting to get the hang of it. I know its intimidating in the beginning (and can still be so even after one is "experienced".) :) S0091 (talk) 18:23, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Á la Carte (game award) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Á la Carte (game award), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Star Mississippi 18:10, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Translations

[edit]

Hey there, just noticed your user page notes a few articles translated from German pages. If you were interested in doing more of those, I will note that User:BOZ/BTG reviews noticeboard has a number of articles listed there with a review that do have articles in German. :)

There are probably more of them on my list that do have German language articles, but those are a good place to start if you had additional reviews for any of them. :) BOZ (talk) 01:52, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I don't actually speak German, but I often find that there are a lot of well-written articles from German Wikipedia without English counterparts that are easy to find sources for, which I can use to help with rough translations. I would love to do some translations if I can find sources! Salem Ander (talk) 17:17, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hah, nice. :) Well that's cool, if you are able to get any use out of any of that, I will be glad to have done my part to provide sources in any way that I could. BOZ (talk) 17:20, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AfC notification: Draft:Á la Carte (game award) has a new comment

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Á la Carte (game award). Thanks! Star Mississippi 01:50, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! My logic is this: the Deutscher Spiele Preis is a very similar award also awarded at Spiel which hosted by a separate magazine (which is also without an article). This award is, for the moment, considered notable enough to have an English article. As both this and the related Essen Feather article are in mainspace, it stands to reason that the Á la Carte draft should be as well. Ultimately would be up to more experienced users to tell whether either of these awards are actually notable, and there has definitely already been some concern over the Deutscher Spiel Preis page, but I at least think they need to considered together. Either way, I will try to find more sources that prove the draft's notability. Thanks! :) Salem Ander (talk) 02:14, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense @Salem Ander. I wasn't sure, so I didn't decline it-games & their awards/magazines aren't my forte. I think the award should be covered, I'm just not sure where the best place is for the reader to find that information. Star Mississippi 02:38, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it's uncertain where the best place for the reader to find this information should be. It might be best to leave the article in draftspace until the 2023 awards in October to see if there's any more notable coverage of that before making a decision either way? In the meantime, I'll continue to update the draft with anything else I find :) Salem Ander (talk) 02:58, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing

[edit]

Your addition to Skull (card game) has been removed or altered, as it appears to closely paraphrase a copyrighted source. Limited close paraphrasing or quotation is appropriate within reason, so long as the material is clearly attributed in the text. However, longer paraphrases which are not attributed to their source may constitute copyright violation or plagiarism, and are not acceptable on Wikipedia. Such content cannot be hosted here for legal reasons; please do not post it on any page, even if you plan to fix it later. You may use external websites or printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If you own the copyright to the text, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the copyright but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:14, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! The sentence did appear to be close paraphrasing so I'm glad you were able to identify this and change it. It's been a while since I wrote that page, but I imagine I must have assumed it was reasonable since I was citing the paraphrased source. I'll make sure to avoid doing this in the future :) Salem Ander (talk) 16:59, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
