Talk: "A Small Window - Dirty Politics 101" by Bruce Bryant.

An account of post colonial, racially based political bullying in Aotearoa New Zealand; how a 21st century western democratically elected government wrestled for control of a major indigenous peoples educational initiative, created to redress the deprivations caused by colonial injustices; using dishonesty and intrigue to discredit the founder and the organisation to justify their actions.

The title of this book has been taken from an extract of an email sent by the state appointed Development Advisor to the Council of TWOA, to a Ministry of Education official on 17th December 2004. The email included the comments "just a small window to get some leverage may exist". The levers were truly applied, and the results to the reputations of Māori, Dr Wetere and his family, and of Māori organisations generally, were left as shattered as the glass in the window on the cover of this book, and you know, those involved could not have given a damn. I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Good so far. Write a lead statement and break the page into sections. Remove "available on kindle" and don't sign articles like talk posts :) Cite your sources also. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia!
