Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Pittmane, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Steuart Pittman, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, which will be reviewed by other editors. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

The only things I changed were factual bits (i.e., place of birth + link to farm), not anything to do with his stances on political issues, etc. If necessary, I can have someone else make those changes? If that would be a better course of action, I can do that. Pittmane (talk) 14:33, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Pittmane I'd do it myself, but I cannot find any sources that say Pittman was born in Washington, D.C. His bio on the Anne Arundel County government website and Maryland State Archives both say he was born in Maryland (and the AACO website specifically says he was born and raised on his family's farm). We can't use any primary sources to list his birthplace, per WP:BLPPRIVACY, so either one of those sources would need to be updated with his birthplace as Washington, D.C., or no edits to his birthplace can be made. I know. I talked to him about it. His birth certificate clearly shows Washington, DC. The family had a house there along with the ancestral home in Davidsonville (where they'd spend frequent weekends and summers). I'm not sure what the source of the birthplace is on both of those sources. If I can find a better public source, I'll let you know. Pittmane (talk) 17:42, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This one doesn't specify birthplace, specifically, but it does note that they lived in DC and spent weekends on the farm: https://whatsupmag.com/culture/anne-arundel-county-executive-steuart-pittman-reflects/ Pittmane (talk) 17:45, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've adjusted the article to include this, thanks. Y2hyaXM (talk) 18:52, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
