Rowspans in filmography tables

[edit]

Please see WP:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers#Filmography tables for an example of what the structure for such sections should look like. Inserting rowspans into them is frowned upon because it hinders accessibility, particularly if a viewer is trying to sort through the tables by year, role, or title. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Union Square (Hong Kong), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Penthouse (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

French Open

[edit]

Hi how are you doing ? For every French Open or Championship contested from 1925 onwards up to 2012 until someone just started changing the last 13 years recently, the French Open Grand Slam editions were numbered. Unlike all the editions of the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open which are Grand Slam events, the French Open has only 95 stagings as a Grand Slam compared to the 124 editions that have been played. It is misleading to fans not to include this information on the page. I have put in two locations and still it is not good enough. Do you agree this information should be pointed out to readers ?. 92.251.134.200 (talk) 16:36, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There is an ongoing discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennis about this.
I haven't checked all the other yearly french open articles, it must have been put in before without consensus too. It is however put in the main French Open article. It is a longstanding consensus in handling the yearly articles this way. The agreed format of the top section of these articles was done before. If you feel like a change, please join the above-mentioned discussion.
You could see from the edit history of 2025 French Open that several editors have reverted these edits. Please also note that the other IP user is being warned of making disruptive editing. So, before a consensus is formed please stop making those edits.
Thank you and have a good day. --Jessicat830 (talk) 16:57, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody has checked or deleted the yearly French Open's that I mentioned because it is too much work and it would of course be time consuming for you guys to do it, and nobody wants to waste time at that right ?. It is way easier just to revert the last few years of course. I don't understand why it cannot be pointed out what harm does it do to the page ?. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.134.200 (talk) 01:45, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As I have mentioned, you could go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennis to join the discussion, especially when you think there is harm done to that article.
In a collaborative project it is necessary to accept consensus even if you are convinced it is wrong. In this case what you want to change is a longstanding consensus, so you should get a new consensus first.
If someone keeps on making edits without consensus, of course it is disruptive editing. In this case the other IP user has joined the discussion, but before a new consensus is formed, he/she kept on making that edit and that's why he/she is warned.
It is really important to know that not all editors think the same way. That is also why all articles have a talk page.
It is a volunteering work to check articles, in this case only recent editions of the French Open articles are being noticed. It's not an obligation of any editor, please don't make it sound easy or negligent.
Jessicat830 (talk) 03:30, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I just read your comment on that page you are against it everyone is against it. So why are you telling me to waste my time joining the conversation to try and get it changed when you will decide what you want to do anyway ?. So what is the point I will not be listened too ?. Please do not try and tell me how editing on here works I have been here for years. So what is the point of me adding anything to the discussion as far as I can see the decision has already been made ?.

I could have my own opinion as all editors do, it just might not concur with yours. I ask you to join the discussion so you could express your ideas. If you get your new consensus I would definitely respect that and act accordingly. This is how Wikipedia works. --Jessicat830 (talk) 21:16, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
