Suggested change to administrator inactivity notice
Hi JJ, I just received the preliminary inactivity notice from your bot and found myself rather confused by it. My first reading was that there were, for some reason, two standards I needed to meet: 100/5 years and also 50/year, because I was being warned for falling below 50/yr but not 100/5. I talked it out with a couple helpful people on Discord, you included, so I now understand that I was misunderstanding, but I think the notice text could be made clearer to avoid this confusing more people. My suggestion would be something like:
- Instead of You are receiving this annual reminder since you have averaged less than 50 edits per year over the last 5 years.
- Something more like Because your average per-year editing rate indicates diminishing participation, this notice is to remind you that if you do not complete a minimum of 100 edits per 60 months, your administrator rights will be procedurally removed.
Which is to say, I think citing exactly 50/1yr in a warning of this type makes it confusing which standard people are expected to adhere to, and I'd suggest that the language simply say that hey, we're worried about your activity level because it's been low. I know you wrote it that way because WP:INACTIVITY specifies 50/yr as the line past which the notice is sent, but I don't think it adds to the effectiveness (or comprehensibility) of the warning itself to specifically cite 50/yr.
If there's a better place to make this suggestion than your talk page, please do let me know! Fluffernutter (talk) 17:29, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Fluffernutter. The other notices that were developed around the same time ({{inactive admin 2}}) were discussed at WP:BN. If you want to get input from others, you could post there. If not, I'm happy to implement your suggestion to replace the notification criteria. — JJMC89 16:26, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
This bot keeps deleting the cover art on the Draft:Easy Red 2
The bot says in the description edit of Draft:Easy Red 2 that non-free video game cover art is only permitted in articles. The problem is, it is an article, so I cant understand why the bot keeps removing it. OberstFischer1945 (talk) 01:39, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- It is not an article; it is a draft. Non-free media is not permitted in drafts. — JJMC89 02:07, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- Alright I'll only add it once it is an article. OberstFischer1945 (talk) 02:33, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

Moving unused categories
One of your bots, JJMC89 bot III, moved Category:Wikipedians banned by the Wikimedia Foundation to Category:Wikipedia users banned by the Wikimedia Foundation. I edited Wikipedia:Banning policy to correct this, but can you please check if there are any other applicable articles using links to the old category have been moved to the new category? Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 12:37, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- See Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Wikipedians banned by the Wikimedia Foundation. There is a process for cleaning up links after a CfD discussion, but that's an extra step to do and CfD is critically understaffed so things don't get done as quickly as they should. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:54, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
Issue
The bot rather than reverting vandalism simply deletes the copyright issues without restoring the prior text. [1] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 23:43, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
Container categories
Hi, you deleted the talk page for Category_talk:Australian_people_of_British_descent based on the afd, but the afd outcome was to containerize, not delete. Can you please undelete and look into what happened with the bot's coding. thanks. The-Pope (talk) 05:55, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- There is nothing wrong with the bot – it did exactly what it was instructed to do. Please see the notice at the top of this page for who you should be contacting instead of me. — JJMC89 06:01, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Not a bot issue; I implemented the outcome of that discussion by telling the bot to delete it, and then undeleting it manually and restoring the subcats once this is done. But I missed a click and failed to undelete the talk page when I should have. * Pppery * it has begun... 06:02, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, but when a bot appears to do a wrong edit, I'm always politely notifying the bot owner, as per WP:BOTISSUE, not chasing a admin via an obscure notice. I've got no idea what the workflow is between a cfd closure and the bot's actions. The-Pope (talk) 11:33, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
