Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Historybuf00, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, which will be reviewed by other editors. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! 🇵🇸‍🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦‍🇵🇸 08:24, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Timtrent were:
This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources.
While the eventual title may differ, this is an odd article. Iff it is intended to list Muslims from Hindustan, that will fail. If it lists some MfH only, then what are the inclusion criteria? Also, in this context, does from mean they lived there for a while(how long qualifies), that they were born there (what if they herein transit)?

There needs to be a lead section for this list, as for any list

The word "Notable" is not required. Their notability must be shown by the references, as must their Muslim-ness and their Hindustan-ness.

Many of your references will have online versions. Where there is a choice please use online versions

Please only add pictures to the where the picture itself adds value. We do not use them for decoration

Please remove the "." character from headings.

Note that any living or recently deceased person must have a reference in order to comply with WP:BLP
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

The comment the reviewer left was:
While this list has clearly been thoroughly researched, I am concerned that it does not meet the criteria at WP:NLIST. Specifically, I don't immediately see sources showing that "Muslims from Hindustan" have been discussed as a group or set by independent reliable sources. Can you identify three sources that are about Muslims from Hindustan as a group, rather than being about some of these individuals? As an example, we don't currently have an article about American expatriates in Paris, but that group has been discussed in sources like Becoming Americans in Paris, The Other Americans in Paris, and "New Readings of American Expats in Paris". Can you identify three sources like those about Muslims from Hindustan?
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Every single name has sources that are independent and reliable. Stop creating problems unnecessarily please. I have throughly fixed all the issues the previous mods left read their comments and see all the issues are fixed. Historybuf00 (talk) 12:17, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Historybuf00, I am assuming you listed the three sources in the lead to make it clear to reviewers but now it's accepted you can remove the list and cite them. It looks like you prepped for that at the bottom. I also suggest cleaning up some of the WP:CITEKILL for some of the entries. If one source supports the entry, that should do. Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to List of Hindustani Muslims, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 10:47, 29 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article List of Urdu-speaking Muslims has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A complete OR and Synth list of supposed Urdu speakers who also happen to be Muslim. This list is not notable at all. No evidence to a bunch of articles listed particularly in the Modern Day India section. This is based on the assumption that because they are Muslim they speak Urdu which is just false but just outright nonsensical. And given the very proper citation style, you won't be able to find out from this article. For instance, the citation given for Mohammed Shahid makes no mention of Urdu as a language spoken by him. You can find that citation on his article and it has nothing to do with language, instead about his death and legacy.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Hi Historybuf00! I noticed that you recently made an edit and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. MossOnALogTalk 18:43, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please use sentence case

[edit]

On Siege of Lucknow you changed content to "British Army Initial Defeat". Probably should be "British Army initial defeat". I presume that British Army is a proper noun. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 21:02, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback
The reviewer, DoubleGrazing, left the following feedback:
This draft's references do not show that the person meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for people. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:
  • provide significant coverage: discuss the person in detail, not brief mentions or interviews lacking independent analysis;
  • are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent: not connected to the person, such as interviews, press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.
Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

Next steps

  • Edit Draft:Ziauddin Ahmad Abbasi to address the points above, making sure to publish any changes.
  • When you are ready to resubmit your draft for review, click the Resubmit button.
  • If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it may be deleted.
