Privy Council Arms of the United Kingdom (Privy Council)

[edit]

I would like your help in making two coats of arms. The first one is to replace the harp in this document with a Gaelic harp, but still use the version of St. Edward's crown. The second one is to replace the harp with a Gaelic harp and use the Tudor crown. version (please upload this version of the file separately)

Here you are. I can't update the original file for some reason, so I uploaded them separately. It allows for a different versions to exist. I hope you like them, I don't do much editing when it comes to things like this.
Royal Arms of the United Kingdom (Privy Council) St. Edwards Crown and Gaelic Harp
Royal Arms of the United Kingdom (Privy Council) Tudor Crown and Gaelic Harp

I also just want to wait until it is clearly shown (like the webpage update coat of arms) that the crown has been updated to Tudor Crown, and there is a file that can be used as a replacement. 2401:E180:8871:12A1:DC40:7548:1C73:DB87 (talk) 16:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please help me make a variant based on this coat of arms but with St. Edward's crown instead, as this coat of arms has been used in some places in the past (as a variant), just looking So far, there are no related svg files in Wiki related resources.

No, Wikipedia's own articles not accurate sources of information. See Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a reliable source. DrKay (talk) 18:52, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tudor Crown Version change

[edit]

I would like to ask you to replace the tudor crown in these two files with other versions. The crown in the Orange River Colony coat of arms should use the 1901 version of the Tudor crown. The exception is the Flag of the Commander in Chief of Antigua and I think Barbuda's crown should be replaced with another version. Judging from the flag source he quoted, this version with reflection and shadow is not used, and judging from the actual use case of the Australian Royal Flag in 2024, it should be replaced with a non-reflective one and shaded version 2401:E180:8832:EE58:566:2717:C9CA:A46 (talk) 03:08, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@GandalfXLDIf you have different opinions on the crown depicted in Dgp 4004, would you consider modifying the above two files?
Replace the crown with this version King's Crown (variant).svg. and the crown used in File:Royal Standard of Australia.svg Most flags, even the version of St. Edward's Crown, use a similar version of this. 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:16, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I can see why you'd want the crown for Antigua and Barbuda changed as they still have The King as Head of State but I don't quite see the reason for changing the crown for the Orange River Colony considering it hasn't existed since 1910. GandalfXLD (talk) 14:21, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just as you mentioned earlier, this kind of crown depiction is not very common.
So I thought of asking.
You can take a look at the crown used in File:OrangeRiverColonyArms.png 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay. I see now. I'll give it ago. GandalfXLD (talk) 14:30, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it doesn't matter if you don't modify it. I just want to make the Tudor Crown version used in Wikipedia more similar. 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:37, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
However, regarding these two documents, have you considered restoring the previous versions? The versions of Edward VII and George V have already been changed back.

File:Royal Cypher of King George VI.svg 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:41, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is also this file File:Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom in Scotland (1837-1952).svg 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:45, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Crown in this version is the Crown of Scotland. The Tudor Crown is correct. GandalfXLD (talk) 14:46, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I raise this issue based on the idea of using the same crown. I think the files, especially File:Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom in Scotland (1837-1952).svg and File:Coat of arms of the United Kingdom (1901–1952).svg, should use the same version of the Tudor Crown. 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 15:08, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So what do you think (?), the color scheme of this crown is obviously different from the crown color scheme currently used in Wikipedia, so I hope to at least put this File:Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom in Scotland (1837-1952).svg
Rollback 2401:E180:8851:4713:350:91B0:B16A:314D (talk) 04:56, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Its all being done by the same user who seems to think he/she knows better and that the 1901 version differed from the present version when it actually looked quite similar. GandalfXLD (talk) 14:45, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone to the image for Antigua and Barbuda and I don't seem to have the ability to revert the image. I'd need to upload a whole new file. GandalfXLD (talk) 14:49, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I bring up these three files is that they use a different crown than the other files. Dgp4004 used to replace the other files with this 1901 Tudor Crown, but it has been restored.
File:Coat of arms of the United Kingdom (1901–1952).svg
File:Cypher of Edward VII.svg
File:Royal Cypher of King George V.svg 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:55, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's why I want to ask if you would consider rolling back the other three files as well. 2401:E180:8880:3B14:5F78:6DB3:BD5E:34CA (talk) 14:57, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GandalfXLDI would like to ask what you think. I think the crowns used in these images should be consistent, especially File:Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom in Scotland (1837-1952).svg. For example, the coat of arms used in areas outside Scotland does not use this version of the Tudor Crown, so I think these two files should be consistent. 112.105.131.66 (talk) 10:07, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current stylization of the Tudor Crown

[edit]

Please stop reverting current coats of arms to the previous stylization of the Tudor Crown. The newer stylization is used on the Royal website [1]. estar8806 (talk) 20:03, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm well aware but the stylized crown does not match the coat of arms as used on wikipedia. It looks beyond stupid. GandalfXLD (talk) 20:05, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry to hear that you think it looks stupid. But unfortunately, we use sources rather than opinions. estar8806 (talk) 20:06, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. Suit yourself. It's not like I have studied monarchy, history, and heraldry and would actually know better. Enjoy your evening. GandalfXLD (talk) 20:10, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Seats of Tisza

[edit]

Hi @GandalfXLD, I see that you changed the number of MPs of Tisza. Please note that electoral results are not actual party seats until the new session of the National Assembly starts it work. Additionally, as indicated right above the composition bars, the data should not be entered manually but will be automatically grabbed from Wikidata. Julius Schwarz (talk) 09:41, 20 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I also see that you edited Wikidata. Please note that values should not merely be changed, but an end date should be added to the current value, and a new value should be created with relevant qualifiers, including start date, legislative body, parliamentary term, source, etc. Julius Schwarz (talk) 09:43, 20 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It appears I need to take time to learn this system. It used to be just editing the party's wikipedia page. I'll be sure to learn before making anymore edits. GandalfXLD (talk) 09:47, 20 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No worries at all, and new editors, including to Wikidata, are very welcome. Wikidata takes a bit of getting used, but it is not that difficult after the few first edits. Just have a look at current values. The most important part is probably non-destructive edits: do not change information, but add new values with relevant qualifiers (and mark the new value as preferred, which highlights it in green). On the Wikipedia side, a template grabs values from Wikidata for composition bars and other elements. Julius Schwarz (talk) 09:53, 20 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
