Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Junction lists

[edit]

I just wanted to mention that many of the Malaysian highway articles have big problems with their junction lists, so it's good to see that you're taking some steps to fix them.

Many articles do not follow the proper format per MOS:RJL, although some are using the templates and coming much closer. The column layout is almost up to the standards and the improper background colors are mostly eliminated. That will be a big help, but it isn't the only issue.

Once the column layout is corrected, the biggest issue is the usage of some of these templates to add graphics to the table. We have to remember that Wikipedia is written for a general audience and an international audience. No article should assume that we've passed a driving test in Malaysia to know what all of the little sign graphics mean. Additionally, because of how they are used, there are accessibility issues for people using screen readers to read articles.

If you look at an American highway article, like Interstate 275 (Michigan)#Exit list, the number of graphics is minimal, every graphic is at the start of the line within a table cell so that it doesn't break up the flow of the text, and the text next to it has some explanation of the graphics. If the graphics in that exit list were removed tomorrow, readers would still understand everything there.

We also condense the text to keep it from being so redundant, which aids in reading the table. The standard format for the destination of an intersection or interchange should be something like:

[graphics] highway designation(s)/road name(s)destination(s) reachable from that road

We shouldn't repeat the graphics and highway designation multiple times, once for each destination. Look at exit 17 on I-275, and you'll see that it lists all of I-94's destinations (Chicago, Ann Arbor, Detroit) after the dash. The airport sign is included, and importantly, the airport itself is included in the list of destinations after the dash. It's simple and compact, unlike exit 107 on Skudai Highway#List of interchanges and junctions.

Even on an article dealing with tolling, we would not use the graphics for the transponders. We would mention the transponder options in the text of the article, or maybe in the notes column.

I think a lot of these formatting things were done before because it "looks cool", but it doesn't help our readers understand the information that's supposed to be presented. Imzadi 1979  20:55, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question regarding {{waterfall sign}}. Is that image used on actual highway signage? Imzadi 1979  01:47, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have verified that the image does not represent actual signage, as shown in the Malaysia Federal Route_6#List_of_junctions (here), and that other routes also include junctions to waterfalls. DiaoBaoHuaJian (talk) 04:29, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We have a principle about junction lists that we don't include graphics are not in the signage. If there isn't a waterfall logo on the signs, then we shouldn't put one in the junction list tables at all. The same goes for any of the other various sign logos that are in use.
I have other questions that I want to ask in a continuing dialog to help sort through the overload with these tables. Imzadi 1979  05:59, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I noticed that many Germany Highway articles need to update the Infobox road and junction lists to compliance the MOS:RJL. Here is the list of Germany Highway articles that still using Category:Autobahn infobox templates. DiaoBaoHuaJian (talk) 05:50, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Perak State Route A5 moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Perak State Route A5. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it has no sources and would need more sources to establish notability. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Yelps ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ critique me 17:31, 8 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Tan Lek Khang

[edit]

I saw that you moved the draft of this article, which had been declined several times, to mainspace without participating in the ongoing deletion discussion or awaiting the result (which was Delete). The article is a controversial one which has been unsuccessfully submitted for review by several SPAs, and your intervention was highly disruptive. Please don't do anything like this again. Deb (talk) 06:12, 1 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thank for reminding. I am sure that the article never sent to Malaysian WikiProjects for improving. What I did was made the improvement for the article, especially from the source and information about the gun shoot incident, to prevent from stated only about one things, which is the Bersatu Associate Wing of Johor dissolved.
Regarding to the notability, could the newspaper report considered as reliable sources? What we know that social media (Facebook) is not the reliable sources, although the sources is came from the Tan Lek Khang himself. DiaoBaoHuaJian (talk) 09:44, 1 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You're missing the point. You can't have failed to notice that there was a discussion going on, so you should have gone there and made a comment to the effect that you wanted a chance to improve the article. Your changes may have been a slight improvement, but they weren't enough to qualify the article for mainspace. What's more, the English in your contribution was not up to standard (even the English in your edit summary was poor), so you should at least have re-submitted the draft. You say "the sources is came from the Tan Lek Khang himself". Although this doesn't make any sense in English, I think you are trying to say that the subject of the article gave you material to add to the article, which would mean that you have an undeclared conflict of interest. Please don't do anything like this again, at least not until you have a basic understanding of how Wikipedia works. Deb (talk) 15:19, 1 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Malaysia Federal Route 503

[edit]

Hello DiaoBaoHuaJian, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Malaysia Federal Route 503, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: No need to remove a redirect from draft after move. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:37, 4 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
