Happy editing!

Information icon Hi Decent swan! I noticed that you recently made an edit and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Jay8g [VTE] 03:41, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :) Will keep in mind. Decent swan (talk) 05:32, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Decent swan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Gut microbiota, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Your editing pattern on this article suggests you may be affiliated with the research group(s) publishing on the topic. It is best to maintain WP:NPOV and not edit articles where you may have personal involvement. Zefr (talk) 16:39, 4 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. I’m a subject matter expert in microbiome research and recently started a new role at a university where we’re encouraged to engage more in public science communication, including contributing to Wikipedia. I initially started editing the Gut microbiota page in relation to vaccine responses, which had been receiving renewed media attention this week following a major new paper. As I worked through the article, it became clear that several sections weren’t up to date with current knowledge in the field, so I’m planning to continue improving the page using well-sourced, peer-reviewed literature. I have no financial ties to the content I’ve edited nor any other COI I can identify based on the links you provided above. Happy to discuss or revise anything if needed.
