|== re Larry D. Alexander ==

This article has already been deleted once. Please do not repost articles which have been deleted. There is no indication that this person is sufficiently notable for an encyclopedia article. Please read WP:BIO. I note that this person's books are "published" by Lulu press, which is a vanity publisher. If this guy is so all-fired notable you ought to be able to come up with plenty of newspaper and art magazine articles, awards, and suchlike to link to.

This is turning into a serious waste of time for all concerned and I ain't too happy about it. I fixed up the article somewhat. The ball is now in your court to provide refereences to respected neutral third-party sources showing this person to be a notable American artist, and fairly quickly too, or else the article will be deleted. Herostratus 03:44, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I could send you at less 40 newspaper articles that I have on Larry D. Alexander, but if you are going to "speedy delete" them as I send them then you tell me who's time is being wasted. You haven't heard of every notable person in the world. Don't be so vain. I throught that was what this Wikipedia site was all about, to impart knowledge of things both little known, and, things widely known. Charles Dillion

To the Administraion Editors: All of the citations that you requested can be found in the "what links here" in the toolbox. I have included several Newspaper and Art Publication Articles that have been written on Alexander over the years that cite permanent collection, pieces of art to universities, the Clinton Family Portrait, one-man art exhibits, etc. I have also cited severals Greeting Card Lines of Alexander's at the Library of Congress (1991). I have inserted those on the Wikipedia article page under the "publications" section with information about each line. I also found at the Library of Congress, a group of over 80 Pen & Ink drawings by Alexander(1994). I also found his books on line at all of the major book retailers and wholesalers, many with five-star reveiws, including Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Books-A-Million, Alibis, etc. This person's work is very notable. Keep this article!Charles Dillion

License tagging for Image:Larry pictures 008.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Larry pictures 008.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

A tag has been placed on Larry D. Alexander, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a repost of either already posted material, or of material that was previously deleted in a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Larry D. Alexander is different from all other articles, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Larry D. Alexander saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we ask you to follow these instructions. Bigtop 05:48, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re Larry D. Alexander

[edit]

Basically, you have little recourse. At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Larry D. Alexander, seven editors looked at the article and none thought that the subject had even a smidgen of notability.

There is a deletion review process, at WP:DRV. I would not, however, suggest you make use of it, because it is mainly intended for correcting deletions where the deletion process was not followed correctly, which is not the case here. You can go to WP:DRV and make your case, but your chances for success are near zero.

Partly all this is because the article wasn't in very good shape. My suggestion would be to hone your chops reading and editing existing articles before tackling creation of articles on borderline figures. Articles for these need to be in fairly good shape from the start, to be retained.

Also, if you are, or are a personal friend or relation of, Larry D. Alexander, it's probably not a good idea to write the article yourself, and this is looked on with a gimlet eye and does not help the retention of an article. If the person is that notable, an uninvolved third party will surely write an article about him.

My suggestion would be to let it go, and go on to editing other subjects. You do have the right to go to WP:DRV if you wish. Herostratus 04:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
