Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello, COREmelt
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Cloventt, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, 2025 Lexington shootings, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}} - Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Cloventt}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Non-controversial move requests
[edit]Just a heads up. I saw you initiate a requested move (RM) discussion on Talk:2025 Cambodia–Thailand clashes, to move the page back to the original title before the undiscussed move that was done by a different editor. This is a clear example of a non-controversial move request. Such requests should be brought over to Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests, and not to RM, which is for controversial move requests (e.g. moving the page to a title with the word "conflict" in it).
The RM is now already gone, as the page it was on had been overwritten by a user with administrator privileges as they were performing the page move back to the proper title.
Thanks, — AP 499D25 (talk) 05:53, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- I actually moved it when I was trying to fix it because it wouldn't allow me to turn "Clashes" into "clashes". Sorry. COREmelt (talk) 06:10, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- A page can only be moved over a redirect if that redirect points to the page being moved and doesn't have any other versions in the page history. In this case, the page was disruptively moved from 2025 Cambodia–Thailand clashes to 2025 Cambodia–Thailand War, before being moved to 2025 Cambodia–Thailand Clashes. To revert the move, one would have had to move it back to 2025 Cambodia–Thailand War first, then back to the original title. But this would only work if the double-redirect bots hadn't already changed the redirect at the original title.
- In any case, your further move of the page to 2025 Cambodia–Thailand conflict was unhelpful, and the edit summary "Add parentheses/disambiguator" was misleading and inappropriate. It might have been an honest mistake, but please avoid making page moves in complicated cases until you've better familiarised yourself with how the Wiki software works. --Paul_012 (talk) 07:07, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Raskuly (talk) 03:41, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
You've continued to consistently not use edit summaries. Please consider checking the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" in your preferences. Raskuly (talk) 13:50, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
