Found out the English equivalent syntax for "Template:SORTIERUNG:Schwarzer Tod und Amikäfer": Template:Black Death and the Potato Beetle to sort the article (if it starts with the definite article "The" under "B" in the category lists |
| 3 | Started translating Palazzo Carrara | 90+ | Had to find out whether architectural period names are proper nouns. Should we use "some," "several," or "many" to translate "einige"? Finding the proper translation for architecture-specific nouns. |
| 4 | Bank holiday. Finished translating Palazzo Carrara. | 90+ | Had to find out how to "translate" Templates, or, more accurately, what kind of template is used specifically for buildings. |
| 5 | Comparing translations of Palazzo Carrara. Correcting Black Death and Yankee Beetles Section. | 90+ | Found out how to link to specific sections of articles: Article name#section name |
| 6 | Started translating Rudolf Knauth | 90+ | It was some difficulties in finding the correct terms for a job that doesn't really exist anymore/that are archaic terms ("Obermann", "Gerichtsassessor"), how to translate school forms that don't exist anymore and for which an English term has never existed. No proper English equivalent for "Studentenverbindungen". Had to translate organisation names with no English name "Thüringischen Ärzte-, Apotheker- und Tierärzteberufungsgerichts", "gewerblichen Sachverständigenvereins". |
| 7 | Compared translations of Rudolf Knauth | 90+ | There were many very specific words connected to the German Beamtentum for which accurate translations don't really exist. |
| 8 | Proofread Rudolf Knauth. Submitted Palazzo Carrara and Rudolf Knauth for review. Started translating Munir El Jundi | 90+ | Difficulties with linking the original article to the draft (no solution yet). Palazzo Carrara was rejected due to missing sources (in the original).
What even is that? |
| 9 | Continuing translation of Munir El Jundi | 90+ | There is a neat template for Arabic names which includes Arabic Script, a notation in Latin alphabet characters and the notation by the German Oriental Society. "Abteilungsleiter" is quite unspecific when compared to English equivalents. Had to translate "Institut für Baustofflehre, Bauphysik, Technischen Ausbau und Entwerfen an der Stuttgarter Universität" but, thankfully, the institute still exists and has an English website.
The "Technische Hochschule Stuttgart" had several name changes in the past, but it wasn't entirely clear when exactly it was renamed to this one, thus I decided to keep as closely to the German as possible and use the current English name. This sentence makes no sense: "Nach drei Monaten lieferte El Jundi die Ideen für das Design der Tür unter Verwendung der Thuluth-Kalligraphie." |
