HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: Around 1740, a group of Hausa led by their leader, Musa Sarkin Yamma left Kano in search of a farm land. From Kano, they crossed various places and at last arrived at Doyan Abakwa. They met a group of jukuns who were there hundred years. They later took over the leadership of the jukuns. They lived in peace with the jukuns. After some years. However, a group of Kanuris led by their leader Sharu settled east of Doyan Abakwa and Doyan Jukun. They built their city wall (Ganuwa) called Ganuwan Doyan Sharu.

A Hausa man called Mallam Umaru came from Wase with his Qur'anic pupils during the reign of Sarkin Doyan Abakwa called Muhammadu Maza Waje. He gave Mallam Umaru a place to live which is now the present site of Adudu. Mallam M. Umaru specialised in making local box called "Adu'du" with palm tree leaves. This was how Adudu derived its name. Mallam M. Umaru was also responsible for the teaching and spreading of Islam within the area. His Islamic activities and trade attracted other commercial activities. A cattle track (Labi) was established from the far north to the south. Thus, became a stopping point for these cattle rearers.

As a point of identification, the cattle rearers referred the place to any new comers as Adu'du, trading activities of Mallam. M. Umaru. When an epidemic broke out in Adudu in 1882, Sarkin Abakwa Mallam Muhammadu Yamma invited hamlet leaders of Doyan Jukun and Doyan Sharu and advised them to come together so that they could a larger settlement. The best site was Adudu which was free of epidemic. In the new settlement, Sarkin Abakwa still maintained the leadership, Doyan Jukun was made Galadima and Doyan Sharu the Madaki. It was during this new settlement that the Jukuns were divided into three. The majority agreed to stay with the Abakwa and Kanuris while one group moved to Obi and Assakio, respectively. It was after this settlement that Sarkin Yamma started expansionist expedition to the eastern part. The Jukuns that left for Obi and Assakio were still recognized by Adudu Royalists. As such, the traditional titles of Garkuwa and Makama are maintained by them. In 1980s, the Jukuns petitioned to the Plateau State government through Mohammadu Wada (Turakin Nasarawa) panel to look into their case at Adudu. The Jukuns complained that they were among the earliest settlers of Adudu but cannot be made even kingmakers. The committee recommended to the government and they were made one of the ruling houses of Adudu as (Doyan Jukun).
