I would like to contribute to the Wikipedia articles on digital television and HDTV. My goal is for these articles to be more accurate and comprehensive with respect to technology, historical context, and market development.

I have a potential conflict of interest regarding the article "Digital television" as explained below:

I am fully retired from my business/technology career and make no salary or consulting income at this time. My career was in the field of digital television and broadband communications.

Starting in 1985, I worked for many years at General Instrument (GI), which was acquired by Motorola in 2000. GI was the company that developed the first all-digital TV system (starting in the late 1980s), and announced the first all-digital HDTV broadcast system in June 1990. In the 2000s, I worked for a major cable operator and content provider that utilized various digital TV technologies. I also worked at a couple tech start-ups in related areas, and later as a consultant. All of this work was in the area of satellite TV, cable TV, digital TV, HDTD, broadband Internet, broadband streaming video, and related areas. I had many different roles at these companies over the decades. I also wrote a book, Televisionaries, published in 2015, which details the history of digital television, HDTV, and broadband streaming video.
