I enjoy road trips and I go on them often. I've been on a few. lemme list 'em:
DC, Fall 2018
My family and I took the trip up to Washington, D.C. and saw a few of the Smithsonians. The monuments were cool but the Washington Monument was under construction while I was there. If I recall correctly, that was the first time I wore a yellow hoodie. (That's kind of my thing now.)
Texas, Spring 2019
My family and I flew to Dallas and we drove around between there, Austin, and San Antonio. I saw a lot of cool stuff like the Alamo. We also ran around looking for fossils in Mineral Wells at the fossil park there.
East Coast, Fall 2020
Covid was starting to wind down a little bit (that didn't last long), so we decided to take a trip up the east coast, starting from Georgia (where I live). We hit Colonial Williamsburg, which was awesome, and then we went up from there. I remember that we got to Philadelphia pretty late at night, and the Liberty Bell was closed for the pandemic. We did get to eat at those competing Philly restaurants (Pat's and Geno's). We kept going up to NYC, where we got some dollar pizza. The traffic sucked. We drove through upsate New York and saw Niagara Falls. The drive back home didn't have any stops.
South Georgia, Summer 2021
This trip was only really a day trip, but it was still really fun. Plus, it was the last thing I did before I got T1D. I was literally diagnosed THE VERY NEXT DAY. We drove down to Providence Canyon and hiked it, then we ended the trip by driving around Plains on a sort of "Jimmy Carter tour." I really liked the peaunut.
Southwest, Summer 2021
The summer trip in 2021 was actually incredibly sponaneous. It was a trip the beach with the extended family at first. (I think it was Destin.) After the couple days of beach fun ended, we decided that since we were so close to New Orleans, we'd head that way, since I'd never been. Well, it turns out there really wasn't that much for us to do there. So pretty much overnight, the decision was made to drive all the way to the Grand Canyon. We drove through Louisiana and Texas before we got to Arizona, where we visited Saguaro National Park first. The next day, we stayed at a hotel like thirty minutes from the national park and woke up at five in the morning to drive there in time for the sunrise. It was well worth it. (As I'm sure you can tell from the photo.) On the way back home we drove through that one bit that juts out of Texas and visited that one steakhouse with the giant steak challenge and Cadilac Ranch.
