My Pet Issues
[edit]- Language wiki pages not linking up/being visible in the language menu due to splitting/merging. Nearly every time (with at least somewhat important articles) it is this and not the page actually not existing.[citation needed]
- Translation tools are shit and might make it more difficult to do the main part of working on a language merge. It is supremely easy to work on the translations leading to new pages, but the section by section one can quickly teach you what hell really is. In one article you will have diagnosis and differential diagnosis as main sections, in the other the latter will be a subsection. In one article you have a full section for a list of drugs, in the other it is in the lead section and you cannot just fix the whole article, while you are at it, with full support of the editor. What is worse is finding something really bothering you in the source and not being given an opportunity to fix it right there and then in side by side view.
- Citations not having a proper start and end of what they are covering is moronic and I will die on this hill. We should be putting the ref tag at the start of the statement and close it at the end.
- Preferences/Editing "Use the VisualEditor toolbar—which includes the automatic citation tool—in the Source editor too" is a lie. It is beyond evil. It just turns your source editor into a worse visual editor. It removes the preview feature. And you can disable visual editing on top of that! And guess what, the citation expansion gadget, you cannot use that too. And it makes copying text from outside moronically difficult. And worst of all there is "Enable the editing toolbar This is sometimes called the '2010 wikitext editor'." and it just does it all better, except for the citations...
About Me
[edit]"A healthy young woman" - every doctor ever (with only minimal exaggeration) upon me presenting serious concerns (ultimately justified)
What radicalised me? Healthcare quality for non-cis men. If I got my way, the world would run in service to medicine and we would be optimising for disability adjusted life expectancy and quality of life. You may think of this as communism, but it is actually different.
Medicine
[edit]I am obsessed with medicine. It is like the best puzzle game ever, the best spread sheet simulator even. And oh the sweet tastes of ending up being right or effortlessly diagnosing a friend first try.
My special interests in medicine, an ordered list:
- Pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and -genetics (I would literally poison myself to confirm a rare side effect for publication)
- Psychiatry
- Pain medicine
- Addiction medicine
- Whatever anyone I care about, even ever so slightly, needs help with
Etymology
[edit]- K - Potassium
- Arsenat - Arsenate
I accidentally poisoned myself (very slightly) in the lab with some potassium arsenate. The experience was strangely antidepressive, didn't last longer than the other near misses though, but it was my first.
